Don't take this class unless you really, really enjoy art. If you're taking this to fulfill a breadth requirement, think long and hard and decide whether it's a good idea or not. She is clearly knowledgeable and loves art a lot, but the class itself is pretty dull, as she talks very quietly.

I loved this class. It was somewhat difficult but if you pay attention and do the reading you will do well. If you hate writing i wouldn't recommend this class. Werth is extremely passionate and made me love art history even more. If you like art you will like the class but if you don't she probably isn't the professor for you.

Had for 154 and 227 and she's def become more friendly and open to students' comments in class. Really wants people to participate! Come to class and she tells you just what you need to know to do well. 3 exams, 3 quizzes, 2 papers. Extremely passionate about art and makes you excited about it too.

Took this class as a non-major... BIGGEST MISTAKE EVER! I don't know how to analyze and look at art so it was hard for me to pass the tests and write the final paper. The lectures were boring and long, but helpful to get an understanding for some of the works. Read the book!

Professor Werth knows a lot about art history and is very enthusiastic. She's good about encouraging students to engage in lecture and discussion sections. It's important to go to lecture so you have a better understanding of the art work, and don't be afraid to speak up. Exams are straightforward, and she's very helpful when working on papers

She is well-educated on her subject and I do well enough in this class, but Werth is frequently snide and obtuse in her relations, especially one-on-one in discussions. The lecture is boring, true, but do the work and you'll be fine. Tends to laugh at her own jokes and belittle your attempts to participate. Not horrible, but not good either

Werth isn't as bad as people say on here. I am an ARTH major and can say that this class might be hard for non majors, so beware! HIGH textbook use. 3 exams, 1 paper (have to go to Philly museum) and quizzes. Follows book exactly which helps, boring lectures but she's a nice and very smart woman.

Probably the worst Art History Professor at Delaware. Extremely dull! Even though her classes are supposed to be lectures, she tries to turn them into a discussion despite the fact she has already full described the work. She will learn your name and WILL call you out! Be prepared, if its not something Baudelaire would say then you've failed!

This class was full of interesting information, but it tended to be rather dull. Furthermore, she will eventually start forcing you to participate in class by randomly calling out names from the attendance sheet.

Not an Easy A. Requires work, reading, and studying. Alot of memorization of artistic movements and artists. Grading various tremdenously because the TA's grade everything. So it really depends. The harder you work, the better you'll do. 2 Exams, 2 Papers, and a Section participation grade. Take a different Humanities requirement.

You just have to make an effort and it isn't difficult. Don't take ARTH classes in general if you do not expect to do work, write, memorize, ect.

Class is harder than ARTH153. Actually have to do readings to understand; come to class and take good notes. Exams are hard--have to memorize pieces by artist, title, and date. Study way beforehand and you should be fine. Papers are somewhat difficult, just make sure you get all the details about them in advance.

This is NOT an easy class. Werth excepts you to memorize and know various amounts of works by title, artist, style or date. Its diffcult but do-able. If you study ahead of time, you'll be fine. There are required weekly paragraphs, not too hard. Discussions aren't bad either. Just put some effort in the class and getting an A is easy.

Worst class ever...it is a 100 level art history class that you can take for a group A, its absurd the amount of matieral she expects you to know for tests...final exam 100 pieces of art, identified by artist, piece and date. If you are NOT an art history major don't even attempt this class...once again she sucks

Werth's lectures aren't the most fun, but the class is easy. My TA was excellent! The exams are are to study for and you have to put in some effort, but overall the class was very easy. She does know her stuff, just students don't feel open to what she says

Prof. Werth is extreemly intelligent and really engaged in visual culture, both past and present. And I don't know who is whining about her being boring- obviously someone who didn't ask her about silent flms or scatological humor in French publications. She's quiet, yes, but funny, too! Good stuff

Listen. Art History isn't easy. Werth is an extremely intelligent woman, and an asset to the university. perhaps you should all just stop complaining once in your life and listen. and 154 is anything but hard. try taking some 400 level ARTH classes.

Poor Prof. Werth...she really tries, and I really do like her, but I'm an art history major. This is how art history is people. It's not just looking at pretty pictures. Don't take a class with her if you're not ready for some serious acadademic jargon.

Horribly boring, uptight lecturer. Don't read text since she just recites it, though in all fairness she seems to know material. Tests are quite fair. This prof seriously needs to relax.
