Worst teacher of my life. He has his Ph.D in economics and that is supposed to mean something to us. Unfortunately, i realized too late that lectures are irrelevant and that you can write the essays with just reading a few chapters. Take if you want the g.e.'s and a class you dont have to go to, but not to actually learn about latin culture

I dropped this class because the professor was so arrogant. He was so pleased with himself, and he seemed to almost SEEK to favor certain students. I was disgusted.

the best LALS teacher! he puts an economic twist on things because economics greatly affected latino history. I liked the economic aspects because he was digging deeper to expose problems that were otherwise only seen superficially. Great guy and mixes up class dicussions to get students involved.

If you do nothing else for this class, I encourage you to read Crossing Over by Rubean Martinez, it really highlights the plight of Mexicam immigrants and the xenophobia still present in this country.

Pastor is a really great professor. He is clear and very interesting. It is almost impossible to fall asleep during one of his lectures. Lots of reading, but you can get by with reading very little. I read about three chapters in all and got an A on both of my midterms. Sections are a bit boring, but if you just show up, I think it helps your grade

Manuel starts every class with music and is a very great speaker, however, i hated this class. Going into it I thought it was gonna be cool since Manuel is such a great guy, but it sucks. Every class turns into an econ lecture, too much reading, too many essays, the essay questions for the midterm and the final are impossible.
