Comment:
Honestly Marc was passionate about the material, but he failed to inspire me to care about anything in this class. I found myself questioning the usefulness of going to class because all he managed to do was put me to sleep. He was extremely boring and made concepts far more confusing than they needed to be.

online assignments are easy. two midterms that were somewhat difficult, but an easy final and you can replace your midterms with it if you do better. He posts notes online that you can print off. He doesn't have official office hours.

Lectures were not easy to understand, he often made references to highschool material and made you feel like an idiot if you didnt know what he was talking about. Exams werent too terrible, class averages on midterms were around 50%. I used the the textbook often because he didnt always explain things very well, he talks fast.

Dr Roussel is enthusiastic about the course material and enjoys student participation and questions. His presentation slides are a good way to review course material. Don't be afraid to get him back on track with a well aimed question though--his tangents, though interesting, can be a bit too much information if you aren't comfortable with material

Expect to work hard in any Chemistry 1000 class.. Labs are fun but require you to know most of the material. The class was not that interesting, but with effort you could pull off a decent mark.

Although Mark can be interesting at times it seems as though he talks above his class and teaches in way that is beyond a first year students comprehension. When asked questions he gets offended and claims that "you should remember that from high school".The tests are all written and they expect way too much detail for the amount of material covered

you must attend class as without it you will be very lost. I found that sometimes the lectures didnt correspond with what was on the exam which is frusterating.

Brutally boring class. Powerpoints are dry and impossible to study from if u miss a class. Might as well read the text instead. Exams are impossible! Very high expectations!

Nice enough guy, interested in what he's teaching but he assumes too much. If you do not read the textbook readings prior to class, or his lectures then you will be completely lost. He breezes through his lectures, poorly explains formulas and gets irritated quickly when you don't understand a concept. Definitely won't take another class with him.

Great guy, taught well and always willing to admit if he made a test to hard and scale it. Only got a C in this class and I still have to give a good review because he tried his hardest to help me out.

Marc is nice enough at first but if you are having trouble he soon tires of explaining things. I went for help often and found he just made me feel stupid. His tests are hard and he doesn't lecture, you have to ask questions. Bascially you have to teach yourself (good luck trying!)

This class was hard with him as a prof, he expects you to know what he is talking about before he teaches it, he goes through the notes at a very fast speed, however he will clarify things if you ask questions. You have online assignments that are not fun, but do the practice questions and tests, as they are very similar to teh real things.

He's a nice guy, but his classes are tough. He burns through the notes like crazy and doesn't explain a lot-just expects you to know. You MUST do the practise questions and read the text cuz the class doesn't cover half the stuff on the midterms or the online assignments (which are a pain in the butt!)

He would be a good prof in the later courses. But for the 2000/1000 level courses he expects you to be as smart as he is without teaching you. I found that I understood the example tests but then the exams were hard as hell...totally different. I found him extremely hard

Mark is a nice guy but not a great prof for these earlier classes. Although I think he'd be great in leter classes. He assumes we're all as smart as he is

Doesn't give enough examples that are as hard as the quiz questions. And why no solution guide? Just numerical answers in text.
