Comment:

I am already not a great writer but the topic prompts were very confusing. Each paper built onto the previous one but she took so long to grade each paper that you would not have time to make an appointment at the writing center before the next one was due. We did not have to attend every class but when we do have class she uses the whole time.

Comment:

By far one of my favorite teachers at Auburn. There were 4 papers plus the final. She loves writing that is clear and concise! The class barely met as a whole becuase she splits into groups. I was already a good writer but she was still helpful. She genuinely wants to get to know the students and loves to have conversations with the class.

Comment:

Marian Carcache is one of the coolest English teachers I have ever had. She is a bit of an odd ball but that doesn't even matter because she is so great. I failed the midterm, bad, and still got a B in the class so don't let the midterm get you down. If you actually read the stories you won't have any problem at all.

She is really entertaining, small details she shares from her life are pretty funny. This year we had one half paper and one full, with a midterm and a final. The papers were graded tough and the tests were very nit picky - hard. This is coming from someone who read and took excellent notes. Don't know why she makes her class hard to get an A in.

She is an amazing professor. She's so sweet and makes the class fun. She tells lots of personal stories and keeps our whole class laughing the entire time. She wants the students to succeed. She is willing to disagree with the university and tell the students about it. I would take her again. She's brilliant but even if lit isn't your forte its fun

Fantastic lady. She is really interesting, not mandatory classes, interesting lectures, but receiving an A is very unlikely. She keeps her bell curve at a solid C. You really work hard on your essays for a B. That being said, I would take her again if it wasn't that difficult.

Carcache is awesome. She really loves the literature she teaches and gets students involved by explaining it well. She also goes on these crazy rants about everything, and gets off topic easily. Her papers are easy, but her tests you REALLY have to study for. One question was, "Explain the significance of the following: Walls."

She is the coolest English teacher, I swear. She isn't annoying about turning in papers late or not being able to make it to class. She really teaches you a lot of grammar corrections to help you out. She is hilarious and makes time pass so quickly. I would absolutely take her again!

Definitely take this class! I'm not really into literature, but she makes it fun. She is super sweet and tries her best to help us and not give too much reading. Attendance isn't required at all but she will make you want to go. I just went to class most of the time and made an A without studying much. She's also got a lot of funny stories.

I really enjoyed this class. The pieces of writing she chooses are different, reading is helpful, but if you go to class you really dont have to study. I didnt miss class, payed attention, studied some and made an A. The papers are long but she graded them fairly. Class is interesting because she is so eccentric. I would take her again for sure.

At first I hated her class, but after a while she starts to grow on you. She rambles on a lot and has a story for everything. The tests are really hard to study for because she isn't very clear about what to know, but she makes up for it by grading the papers high (at least both of mine were higher than I was expecting). Average class overall.

Carcache is one of the most interesting professors I have ever had very feisty. This class was my only one on MWF but I always looked forward to it. She is very enthusiastic and clearly loves her work. She has a story for everything so that makes class interesting and makes readings easier to understand and remember. Definitely take her.

Fun class! Carcache makes class entertaining and tries to pick reading materials that our interesting! However, the midterm and final are difficult and she does grade papers sharply so if you aren't good at English, then take another teacher! Attendance isn't mandatory, but you have to read everything to do well! overall good class!!
