Comment:

100% recommend this guy. He knows his stuff, is funny, and just an all-around cool guy. The coursework is fast-paced and there's a lot to learn, but he teaches the material like a pro so you should be cruising through it if you pay attention. Easy to reach out to for help/questions. A+ Professor.

Comment:

Professor Isken is amazing! I had him for a course that teaches R and Python and an excel course. He knows so much about computer science and data analytics. Ive never had a professor provide so useful many resources. You learn things in his classes that youll actually use in the future. Hes very helpful and loves the subject he teaches.

Comment:

You'll learn a lot of useful stuff from this class. However, be-aware that HW assignments are essentially projects, and he is a tough grader. Attend class otherwise it'd be difficult to pass this class. My only real complaint is that I wish he would realize this isn't the only class we take during a semester.

Comment:

Prof. Isken is very passionate about data analytics. His class consists of all HWs and a big project at the end. No exams. His HW's aren't really HW's but mini projects which take 15-20 hours to complete. Grades pretty tough on the HW. Throws alot at you like its the only class you are enrolled in.

Comment:

He is so passionate about what he teaches, posts helpful material on Moodle! This class is fun! However, it is very challenging. I would recommend that you are very familiar with Excel functions and VBA. This is mostly a grad school class, and he runs it like one. There are no tests, only homework - which is always a pretty good-sized project.

Excellent in lecture--shows to have a lot of natural enthusiasm & talent for his work. I took the Business Analytics class and found the course material to be very challenging, but I'm confident the knowledge gained in this course can be gainfully marketed and directly used in a wide range of applications. Highly recommend the class & professor.

Great professor who is passionate about teaching and the material he teaches. I've never had a professor be so energetic for a night class. The material is interesting and he drives the class and lectures very well. Would highly recommend him and this class.

Absolutely great professor. Probably my favorite professor I've ever had. Material is extremely useful and interesting, he loves the material and is passionate, will always help with anything you need without doing the work for you, provides LOADS of supplemental materials online (screencasts,etc.) to help with homework and projects.

Phenomenal teacher!! It was 7 years prior that i took QMM 240 and Prof. Isken made getting back into stats a breeze. Great teacher that is passionate about job. He makes class fun to come to, and teaches you how to be a WIZARD with EXCEL and many other programs. Would recommend him 100%! If you want to learn, take him.

Open book open note tests but the notes nor the book really help since most of it is done on excel. Very passionate teacher. Tests are not easy nor is the class but failing would be pretty difficult. If you're an average student like me and put in medium effort like me you should expect a 3.0 to a 3.5 (depends how good at guessing multiple choice)

He is very funny and has a passion for the subject. He wants to see every student succeed in life. His notes contain no examples, which is difficult. There are only 6 homework assignments that are kind of difficult as well. The easiest part of the class are the exam because he basically gives you the exact test as a practice which you can use on it

After taking qmm240 I receieved a 3.8 and took qmm241 in the winter and ended up failing with isken. Doesn't explain material clearly. I wouldn't not take this professor again!

If you show up and actively pay attention, fill in the blanks on the notes he provides you, and do the homework, I don't see how it's possible to get anything less than an A. Especially with the extra credit he offers and the open-book midterm and final. Isken is my absolute #1 favorite prof at OU.

Professor Isken is easily one of OU's best professors. This class has a TON of very useful information, and he presents it in a very easy manner. Took the class online, and his screencasts were better than being in class. Assignments are challenging, but fun, just don't wait until the last minute to start them. Highly recommended.

Hands down this is my favorite professor at Oakland University. Even though our class was not in the computer lab in Elliot it was very easy for me to follow along on my own computer. He is very helpful and I did very well in his class. If you're looking to learn material and want a good professor he is the one!

Professor Isken is one of the best Professors and this class was one of the best classes I have had at OU. If you want to understand Excel at a deeper level and learn things that will make your everyday job easier this is the class. I took the online class but his screencast lectures were like you were sitting in the class. Highly recommended!

Information overload. Clearly passionate about the topic, but bordering on overzealous. Posts a lot of irrelevant material that excite him, but muddy the waters for students. Doesn't provide straight answers when asking for help. HW is tough, but you learn. Fair grader, offers a bunch of extra credit.

Don't take this class unless you are already really good at stats and excel if in the lab. I went from 3.7 to in 240 to failing 241. 3.6 GPA and didn't change my study habits. Something's wrong there. Moves way too fast through material and does not explain it well in lectures or notes. Ask for help and its more of the same. Should just teach grad
