Assignments& quizzes are all done in class, so make sure to go. He dropped our lowest quiz & test score. He lets you have a cheat sheet on exams& the final exam was open book. He goes over the chapters with you in class, the only thing I would complain about would be that he doesn't go over problems in class, wish can get difficult when doing hw

To start semester Prof. Schmidt stated that if you don't show up for class you won't pass, this is very true. In class you will get in class work and pop quizzes but if you actually go to class you'll be more than fine. Do the homework and pay attention to the lectures and you'll be fine. Lectures are very explanatory.

He's the man! Very clear about what he expects, exams are straightforward and he usually give you a clear outline of what to expect. Fun class projects and you learn a a lot here. Take this class, it's an easy A with some effort. Fair grader and very clear about what is expected. You can't go wrong with him!

This class had TONS of busy work and group project requirements. But - looking back at the material I am very happy this course was required. The SDLC information will give you background knowledge for any IT field and the in-depth project is also applicable to the "real world." Just do the work, exactly as he asks, on time, and you'll do fine.

I took IS 340 over the summer, and I really enjoyed taking it with Dr. Schmidt. He's a great professor - I hope I get to take a higher IS class with him. He has a ton of knowledge and cares about his students. His class was very doable, and he was extremely reasonable. If you're interested in computer security, he's definitely your guy.

Nice guy. Tries to get you involved with the class. Most of the test questions come from lectures and the notes. Easy A as long as you go to class and pay attention. If I had to take more BCIS classes, I would take him again. Also, you get to design a web page.

This guy sucks at teaching!! his tests have nothing to do with his powerpoint presentations. he said on the first day of class...."tests will come 90% from the book and 10% of what I tell you." so dumb to even have to go to class then. just for class points.

He is a great professor! He genuinely cares about students. There are excellent discussions in class almost everyday. He will relate BCIS to your major and your career. The quizzes aren’t that bad, as long as you pay attention. Excellent class overall.

Easy class. Would recommend him for the 340 requirement because he is very easy to follow and tests come from the power points and class lecture which is better than trying to read that textbook!

I thought he did a pretty decent job teaching. I wouldn't mind having him again. I thought his tests were very easy. I think I'll get a B in his class, with little effort. I'm curious as to how some thought his tests were hard. If you go to class regularly and read the main points of the text, a B is pretty easy.

Mark is very condescending. He speaks to the class as if we are first graders. Very VERY anal professor. Make sure to do everything his way or prepare to lose points. I will say that he does know what he's talking about and you do learn from him. You just have to wade through his self-righteousness to get there.

Probably one of the worst profs at SCSU... lectures on powerpoints but has all test bank questions on the book.. tests are pretty hard, gives a ton of quizes so you cant really miss class... take a different prof

He is a great teacher! I'll second that he relates it to the real world, it helps a lot. He cares about his students, there is very good discussions in class. His tests aren't too bad, you do need to study for them and go to class though! In class quizzes aren't too bad, as long as you attend class. Overall- Pretty decent class.

One of the better BCIS profs. he relates things to the real world. gives random quizes on class that give you a hint as to what will be on the test. most info from class id on the test, but you do have to read to get the best possible grade. Kind of off the wall...seems like he might have been a geek in high school.
