Stream of consciousness, speaks to himself. Through most of class appears as though his mind is elsewhere. He takes weeks to return anything and by then you've forgotten what was discussed and what makes it worse is his scribbles on the page are generally incomprehensible. A waste of a year if you are looking to learn anything.

The TAs do all the marking, and Martin just talks at the class. A boring three hours, and an A is achievable easily without taking notes or even applying what you learn in class. 206 is a creative writing class with over 100 students. It is, rather, a waste of time.

Awesome class, very relaxed and looked forward to it every time. He's got a great attitude and has a lot of industry knowledge. Chose interesting films to screen, and let us out early more than once. It's definitely just a basic introductory course, but it's an enjoyable 3 hours.

The only time I am excited to go to this class is when we get assignments back. Other than that, it's the longest 3 hours I've ever spent in a movie theatre. So far, we haven't looked at any films made in the last 3 or 4 decades. None of them I have even heard of. His TA's do all his marking and all of the usefull stuff I learned comes from them.

Professor Kinch, or Martin (as those in his smaller workshops will most likely call him by) is a very easy-going guy with a great attitude and he really is interested in what his students have to offer. That said, one would benefit most from his presence in the more intimate workshops that he hosts, in which he offers helpful critiques.

A very cool prof and a very cool course. 'Class' feels more like a professional get-together vs. a lecture or discussion. Martin gave great feedback and was totally chill. Gives great industry advice as well. Class itself is awesome, take a creative writing course, and take it with him!

Loved this class. Assignments were fun, material was interesting, and it's nearly impossible to get a bad mark. It's true that people very serious about Creative Writing or film may think it's a little too easy, but it IS an intro course, and as an elective, it's a great, GREAT course to choose.

An AMAZING class for anyone interested in any aspects of the film industry. Always looked forward to this class, Kinch chose GREAT subject material (we studied shows like Grey's Anatomy, movies like The 6th Sense!) and assignments were so much fun. No exams, no final! All marking is done very fairly by TAs. Why WOULDN'T you take this course?
