Comment:

She's a very skilled artist and showed us cool techniques. The problem is we got very little feedback on our work. No group critiques, hardly ever gave individual feedback during class, and when drawings were graded there was seldom any written feedback. A good environment to practice figure drawing but it's hard to improve without any feedback.

Comment:

Inspired me to do more with my art. I never thought I would be able to say I was good at drawing, but now I feel more comfortable with it and I'll often do it just for fun. If it weren't for this class I wouldn't have found a home in graphite and charcoal. This class was really something else for me and Luera is the best professor I've ever had.

Professor Luera is a very understanding teacher, she really works with you to further your skills. She provides all material for the 3 tests you take in her class, which advance your knowledge about the human form. Her class is easy, but don't take it lightly, miss a day youll miss a chance to push your skills.

GREAT PROFESSOR. Attend class to get the drawings done and improve by learning her different techniques. I drew before this class but even those who didn't did great. No homework really if you utilize class time.

Take Professor Luera's class if yo get the chance! She's an awesome professor and very encouraging with your work. She made me want to reconsider Art as a major, and made me love art again. You learn a lot about technique and artists, plus she demos a lot, which helps. Great class!

I took freehand drawing I and II with her. She is probably one of the best teachers I had in 30 years. Very interesting class, she encourages constantly. She could be strict about attendance, if you leave earlier she expects an explanation which I think for a studio class is fair. I would recommend her to any art student who is serious about it

I learned more from one semester than all others combined! She is very gentle, and allows plenty of time for projects. If you show that you're dedicated, no matter your lvl of talent, she'll be fully supportive! She's also a very talented artist herself, and demonstrates every medium for the class. If you want to improve and learn a lot, TAKE HER!

Luera is an awesome teacher! She doesn't grade you on how great of an artist you are but more on how hard you try to improve, no matter what level you're at. very supportive and so nice! you won't regret taking her class and i definitely recommend it!

I went to art school for 7 years and I know it is pretty hard to find a teacher as good as this one. She is clear, helpful, kind, open minded, excited about what the students do, very knowledgeable and does not mind that you do your own thing as long as you follow the assignments and sketchbook projects. Overall AWESOME class.

Mary Ann has a relaxed teaching style but don't think you won't learn anything new! She is very knowledgeable about human anatomy and tries to share that knowledge with her students. She also likes to give mini art history lectures on certain artists and then the class draws based on that artist's style. Overall an enjoyable class!

A very open-minded teacher, however, laid back. I had a great time experiencing different styles of paint in her class. If you want a fun painting class take her. Favorite art teacher! I had her for both Art 100 and 102 and she was always helpful and never put you down. She makes you feel good about your pieces. Her assignments are easy and fun. Those were my favorite classes with her. I had never taken an drawing class before this and by the end, I was better than I could have ever thought.

Luera is awesome. You don't stick with one thing all semester. You do different things all semester and even get to work with color. Attendance is not really manadatory but it sucks to not show up and find out you guys did an in class assignment and you don't get the points. She actually demonstrates how to draw and is very helpful.
