Overall, the course isn't too bad- it takes quite a bit of reading and you need to work at it, but you can get a good mark if you make the effort- the exams are pretty fair. The lectures were interesting and the prof seemed approachable.

Awful course. He lectured for a few classes then let the class do presentations for the rest of the course. You can only pay attention for about an hour before becoming extremely bored and uninterested. Only take it if you intend on taking BIOL 371 and/or BIOL 374L.

Dr. Vijayan was an extremely knowledgeable professor. He thoroughly goes through every slide, going over every point and diagrams in detail. Howevr, some negative things were... posting the grades for the midterm and final were late, and also he missed 3 3-hour night lectures this term. Other than that, great prof. exam is fair if you study.

The negative comments absolutely stun me, he's a very knowledgeable prof and has the patience to explain until you understand. MUST read the textbook and attend classes (and write notes) if you want to do well, don't bash him just because you couldn't do well. UW needs more profs like him! At least he's not snobby like other profs!

These last few comments are a little unfair. It's a tough course, but not impossible. The textbook is your best friend. Read the lecture in the textbook then go over lecture notes twice. I managed a mid 80, while taking 6 courses. Go to class! If you want to skip, not read the text and then cram before the exam, you are in for a surprise!

Lol, I don't know what to say to this idiot. Never ever in my life have I seen a prof worse than this person. Why he is hated so much you may ask? Well the following are the very brief answers. 1) He can't teach, speaks super fast with a thick accent. 2) Notes are completely useless and expect to memorize the textbook.3) Hardest most detailed exam!

One of the worst profs I've had. It seems he doesnt plan his lessons at all, just reads off lecture slides. His lectures are very redundant. He does not have any sample questions. His exams are very unfair. The purpose of his exams seem not to test the knowledge of the student, but to entrap the student with wording and stupid details.

The bad comments baffle me. He is a fantastic professor who not only knows the information well, but also conveys it perfectly. The tests are more than fair...though I admit the short answer format of 370 is easier than the multiple choice in 373. Wonderful professor...take both his classes for sure!
