Genuinely the best professor I've ever had. Lectures are very informative and the readings are on the longer side, however he makes it the subject very interesting. Everything on the test was covered in lecture/seminar, an easy grade if you attend!

I love Carter! My favourite teacher no doubt about it, I didn't want the class to end when he started, and I felt like a kindergartner during story time. I was totally engaged in everything that he said and his love of Tacitus has stirred a love for him in me.

I had Dr. Carter for first year Roman studies last year and I have never had such a great prof.He was extremely enthusiastic and who can't appreciate a man dancing around the room like he's a gladiator. Not only did I learn a lot from him, I enjoyed learning. I would highly recommend him. He is the 'pater' of all Roman history courses.
