8AM for MWF is a struggle for mandatory attendance, especially when the material in class is not helpful unless it's graded HW you need to pass in. He's a nice professor, but style of teaching is outdated. Goes through the material of chapters too quickly when you have other courses and OPEN NOTE exams (25Q MC) are extremely difficult/tricky.

whiteman is the only professor currently for 371. ifelt that he made tax more fancy than it seems. it's just a bunch of a rules and he would go on multiple tangents just to explain them which made tax more difficult to understand. tests are open book but you have to know where you're looking. very helpful teacher but did not like his class

Great prof. Very passionate which is helpful. Get the book you will need it as his exams are open book. Taking notes is not required but it is useful because it will help with staying focused in class. Can miss 3 classes without penalty. And make sure you visit him for the income tax prob as much as needed- He will be extremely helpful. GREAT GUY!

Very sweet man. 3 open book tests, 1 tax return and textbook homework usually collected every class. Attendance is a must because there is a sign in sheet but you can miss up to 3 classes without penalty. If you go to his office he will help you with any questions and really take the time to make sure you understand. I will take again for SOM572

Prof. Whiteman is arguably the best professor ever. He made possibly one of the most boring topics interesting for even the class sleeper...the tests are open book and he is more than willing to help with questions...reccomend this class to anyone who needs an SOM class and to all accounting students...
