Comment:

Dr. Ghadbian is by far one of the most knowledgeable professors I've taken in Middle East politics. This class is an easy A if you show up and take notes. He tells you exactly what will be on the tests and is a fair grader on the term paper. My only complaints are that he is hard to get in touch with outside of class and the lectures can be dry.

Comment:

He has a knowledge of the ME that you won't find in many places. A lot say his questions are baited, which they are, but if you answer his questions with respect he won't shoot you down. He doesn't take arrogance well. If you need an ME or PLSC class I would highly recommend. I've had him 3 times and gotten an A. Just have to work for it.

I took him for intersession. Missed the first day bc he was in Qatar. The only test was the Saturday of the first week. Second week we had class for no reason and he played 2 hour documentaries. We had a group presentation the final day and that was it.

I really enjoyed taking Middle East and World Affairs with Dr. Ghadbian. He is very well informed on all issue past and present in the Middle East and likes to teach using a lot of visuals like documentaries. If you need and upper level political science class, I would recommend this.

Very good teacher, and yes he is liberal, and no that makes no difference! I'm pretty conservative and was not offended at all. He is a very complete teacher, as in he has complete knowledge of what he is teaching, a true expert in the field of the Middle East.

Dr. Ghadbian is a very good professor who knows his subject well. His tests are only difficult if you don't study. He usually will do some sort of review so you know most of what will be on the test. If you are a political science major or interested in world politics he is a great professor to take.

The guy is beyond liberal. Dont fall for his "open discussion" questions, if you give an opinion that doesn't make Obama look like a saint he will shoot you down. Also, his accent can be kind of difficult. Tests aren't too bad, take advantage of meeting with his TA and STUDY

The class is extremely easy. He tells you everything that is going to be on the test. He is very liberal and pretty unyielding to the views of others. DO NOT FALL INTO HIS BAITED QUESTION TRAP. If you try to answer a question with a conservative view point, he will make you feel inferior.

Actually, for a guy that has experience with bad foreign policy in the mid-east, Ghadbian's a fairly even-handed guy.He's always careful to balance every statement with an 'even though' on the other end, and his learned, didactic style lends itself rather to objectivity.The only beef is, you can never get him to say what he really wants out of you.

Dr. Ghadbian might be liberal, but come on, it's a politics class, who isn't opinionated? I think this guy really knows his stuff, and he has a very good personality too.
