This class requires A LOT of time. You have to read before every lecture and he will call someone randomly to talk about the reading. Readings are mostly about 10 pages. His tests are EXTREMELY HARD with questions which you have to answer in paragraphs. If you like reading and humanities, you may like this class and this professor, if not, RUN.

Dr. Nguyen is very funny, and always made me laugh. I took his Philosophy class, and I have to say it was tough. There are lots of details you need to memorize, and he only puts in the test credit for grades. However, if you always come to class he will give you extra credit from time to time. If you miss a class, youll miss a lot of content.

Professor Nguyen's teaching style is very confusing, will never go over exactly what is on the test so you walk in blind on test day with questions you have never even seen. My class size started at about 50 and ended at maybe 15? with the majority of students failing the first 2 tests of 4. If he allowed open notes it would help, drop while u can.

I failed the first test and still got an A in the class. I suggest going to every class because the test contain a lot of questions based off what is written on the board and the worksheets given out. Also, he will randomly give extra credit. I spent hours every week reading for this class but its worth it. Overall great and funny professor

Only 4 grades total which were exams made up 200 points in the class. Great teacher who expects you to read before every class. Calls on students frequently to test their knowledge which put me through a lot of stress and distracted me rather than helped me

Professor Nyugen was an amazing professor. He is extremely wise and very passionate about what he teaches. By no means is this class an "easy A"... You WILL have to work for your grade but the knowledge you will walk out the door with makes it all worth it. Take this class if you want to expand your mind.

Prof Nguyen is hands down one of my favorite professors. He may seem tough to those who are just in the class to get credit, but his class is extremely interesting. If you read, go to lecture, and take notes, you WILL pass with an A. He knows his tests are hard so he gives extra credit on random days, so go to every single class. Really cool dude

Go to class and get there early because he usually starts teaching five minutes or so before start time. READ assigned readings before class and get ready to be called on. He gives handouts during class and a lot of test questions come from the handouts so don't miss class. Be strong in your faith because he will try to make you waiver from it.

Look, It is not the professor's fault you are failing. If you are looking for an easy class where you can cheat your way through using quizlet, choose something else. Professor Nguyen style of teaching may first be confusing but if you do the reading and show up to class and take good notes then getting an A is possible.

Dr. Nguyen was one of the most amazing professors I have ever had. He genuinely cares about his students and wants to help them succeed in life. He gives amazing life lessons, but MAN his tests are SO hard. There are 4 tests and no other grades. each test is written a response and he wants at least 15 sentences for each answer.

This class is not an easy A. You only have 4 tests and extra credit at the end. I love his lectures and I've learned so much. He lightens up throughout the semester and is really funny. The first test was honestly the hardest test I've ever taken. You will need to put in A LOT of work. He really cares about his students and will help you succeed

Hard class bc tests are crazy difficult but it doesn't really matter cause on random days he'll give extra credit for people who show up. He's super funny and made me excited about going to class every day. The lectures were SUPER interesting; if you like learning about philosophy, take the class, if you're looking for an easy A, try another prof.

Terrifying and hilarious in equal measure. ONLY 4 EXAMS for 200 total points. Exam material comes from lectures, don't miss a singe one! Extra credit given randomly in class. READ EVERYTHING and bring the book to class. Don't be late, he'll call you out! If he calls on you during discussion, be ready to respond. GREAT LECTURES!!

This class is easy if you go to class and take notes on pretty much everything he says. If you don't read or don't show up, don't expect to pass. He does give extra credit in class for those who do show up, and this credit bumped my grade up a whole letter.

You basically cover the entire textbook, and he picks on you to answer questions - so IF YOU DON'T LIKE READING, HE IS NOT FOR YOU. Attendance isn't required but he usually gives pretty good hints as to what will be on the exam , most of which isnt in the book. Extra credit saved my grade in this class.

The only grades that you have in this class are exams and extra credit. It can seem really difficult at first. Because the exams are open book/note, almost everyone fails the first exam. But no need to fear! If you organize your notes and study a little bit, you are sure to pass. Hang in there - at the end of the semester he gives extra credit!

Nam Nguyen was without a doubt the worst teacher I've had here at UCF. He's grading scale was tests only (not a bad thing) but his tests were absolutely awful. I read everyday, took notes, and went to class. Still could barley pass his tests, even after taking a previous philosophy class and getting an A in it. Would NOT recommend.

Oh my goodness. Dr. Nguyen is such an amazing person. I would take his class again! Do not slack off on reading. Take the class seriously, those who didn't dropped out because they realized it was too late. Email him often and take advantage of the open note and open book tests. Many are intimidated by him, but just stick with it and stay active.

There are much easier professors to take at UCF. Take Mason Cash instead. My roommate has Cash, does nothing in the class, and gets an A. I study every day, go to every class, and am hoping to get a C.
