nick is a colossal geek and the world is a better place for it. he's uber-enthusiastic and very helpful if you can pay attention to what he's saying beyond his niceness. he acts more like a friend than a professor, which is good for mature students, not so good for slackers. i'd be a lifelong student of this guy if i could.

Though Nick isn't super charismatic, he clearly loves the genre, and is one of the only teachers that is still very much immersed in illustration. The class was a real eye opener, and it gave me concrete tools I could use in the real world of illustration.

Nick fills a very important niche that is so obviously lacking at RISD- The "geek" - real world type of illustration, rather than the fine art approach. It is truely important cause Iwould estimate about half of the departement has that style as

Nick is a guy who deserves all this appraisal. He is just an all-around interesting person. My only thing with Nick is that he can be a little too friendly for a professor. I'de like to see him yell at a student sometime for coming in late, or really just bash on a project that clearly sucks.
