REFUSES TO POST GRADES. thinks it's not his job. He doesn't quite understand that an introductory course is suppose to be INTRODUCTORY. He goes through so much material super fast, which is fine, but gets ANGRY when you don't know the answer instead of helping you. I've been meanly yelled at by Doss more than my own parents.

Comment:

This professor is a real gem. Prof Doss cares about you, about the Earth, about the future and about your future. He really is so knowledgeable and caring. Yes, he is extremely hard. He wants you to work for it. He doesn't post his lectures because he wants you to write the notes down. He is hard but trust me, it is worth it. Do the readings.

He expects a lot out of you, and he pushes you to do your very best (no cliche intended). Make sure to take great notes, and READ EVERYTHING! You will have to work very hard in this class to get a good grade, but it is worth it. Dr. Doss is more than willing to help you with whatever you need.

He is difficult at times, but he is always willing to help out students. Take advantage of office hours; they saved me! He's super nice once you get to know him. He has become one of my favorite teachers at USI!

Speaking strictly on behalf of Geol 151, Dr. Doss is an outstanding professor. He created this course in hope of attracting students into the geology field. He is extremely passionate about Earth and its processes and has inspired many students to further study geology. This course is as easy as you make it. Attend class and lab, you'll do fine.

Doss is one of the funniest people I have ever met. He is easy to get along with and does a good job of making the class interesting. However, the tests and labs are VERY hard. Not studying will result in failing. You have to take excellent notes, read the material, and study nightly if you want to ace this class.

If you ask for help he is always willing to stay after class or see you during his office hours. He responds to emails quickly and thoroughly. The labs are difficult, but he is constantly surveying the room to help those who need it. A lot of people are complaining about the difficulty, but if you read the text then the lecture is easy to follow.

Dr. Doss was great. This class and the material were both fascinating! The class offered two field trips to Nat'l Parks. If you want to excel in his class, take thorough notes and for gods sake, pay attention! :)

I believe this professor failed to grasp the concept of introductory course. He feels, that students should absolutely love Geology, and if not, he doesn't have time for you. However, most students who take science, do it for the credits to full fill University core class. He is not a good teacher(AVOID).

Funniest teacher at USI. He obviously knew what he was talking about and loved teaching it. However, he doesn't make some things very clear for the students and his tests and quizzes are very hard. You HAVE to study to do well on his tests, but in the end he'll boost your grade if he could tell you were paying attention and participated.

I have a high GPA. I studied for this class, did the assignments, went to class, but he managed to make an intro class utterly incomprehensible. He kept saying we weren't studying, but we WERE! The people who do well in this class were the best guessers, not the ones who studied. He's a nice man, but not a good teacher at all.

Mr. Doss is such a sweet man. I don't know how he is getting bad comments. He is so funny and his classes are so fun. He has some of the best jokes I have ever heard. He actually made Geology fun for me. His tests are hard but you should be studying every night! He is a great friend to his students. I love my Mr. Doss.

He is a great teacher, but he expects a lot out of you. He expects you to read the chapters assigned and to read your notes everyday. His test are hard and need to study days in advance. The labs are not too hard, but some are more complicated than the others. I loved his class and I am so glad I took it.
