Took his course in the summer, and he condensed the content so it was manageable. He has a very narrative lecturing style which can make things really interesting and enjoyable to listen to, but sometimes his stories go on a bit too long. 2 exams each worth 50%, which are pretty fair but sometimes include random details from lecture.

Hewitt's lectures are very narrative, telling interesting personal stories of the material. Listening is a key skill to have because the smallest fact might be on the exam. 3 Midterms and some questions can be a bit unfair.

I don't think Hewitt is a bad professor, but teaching doesn't seem to be his passion. That being said, lectures were super interesting and I loved this class. Write down everything he says and read the text book thoroughly. It was 3 exams w/ MC from class and written from lecture. Wouldn't recommend taking in the summer, but still a great class.

It does seem like he doesn't like teaching very much but with that being said... the tests are very fair. The questions come out of the textbook so it is essential to read all the assigned readings. Not too hard to get a decent mark in this class.

To give credit where it is due: He is a good orator. You come to class and you learn and he knows A LOT. His tests are hard but fair. On the negative side, I'd say he gives no feedback, does not appear to care about the class or the students and in sum just comes because he probably has no choice. It is quiet too bad.

Interesting/humorous lecturer. Tested on text+lecture (incl. info not in text). 10 marks on test was based on him verbally explaining why psychoanalysis is relevant (pay attention!). First two tests felt really hard (tiny details in textbook or hard to understand questions). Grades scaled up. I had low 80s for first 2 tests but ended with A+.

Dr. Hewitt was not here 1/4 of the semester and his grad students ddi the lectures for him. Have to read textbook to get the MC questions and have to MEMORIZE (not understand, memorize) lecture slides for short answer.

Lectures can be boring as Dr. Hewitt gets off topic and sometimes the lectures don't really mesh with the textbook well. Tests are difficult but fair, if you read the textbook and listen during lectures you'll be fine.

He wasn't present for a good handful of classes, and while he had TAs cover for him, it took away from the quality of the course. While I enjoyed his clinical stories, he was a very ineffective lecturer. He regularly went off on long tangents, and as a result, he never covered all of his lecture material (which was still examinable).

Test was mostly from textbook but some aspects of it are from lectures, slides are TERRIBLE and don't really explain anything which is why it's important to go to class where he explains hem

Dr. Hewitt is an AMAZING prof. He is hilarious and has the best stories. He posts slides online, but don't miss a class. Most detail is given in lecture. READ YOUR TEXTBOOK. Exams aren't cumulative (yay!) - MC are all from the textbook, short & long answers are from slides. His tests are hard, but totally passable if you make an effort to study.

It's supposed to be for "clinical psychology" or maybe I understand it wrong cuz 80% of the time we are on psychoanalytic stuff. If you are not a big fan about psychoanalysis, avoid this course!!! the short answers are so long & ur expected to memorize A LOT without any understanding. Neither the lecture or the textbook are very logical.

EVERYTHING COMES FROM THE TEXTBOOK, MAYBE ONE OR TWO QUESTIONS COMES FROM THE LECTURE. STUDY THE BOOK CAREFULLY, DONT MISS A PAGE. THE MIDTERMS WERE HARDER THAN THE FINAL. HOWEVER, THE FINAL WAS NOT TOO HARD, ACTUALLY IT WAS EASY BUT ALMOST ABOUT 160 MQ. HIS LECTURE IS GOOD, I RECOMMEND HIM.

Can't write a test to save his life. He has very vague short answer questions, but is VERY strict about what he considers "correct". I would NEVER take a class with him again. My exam marks did NOT reflect my knowledge.

Overall a great class. He makes his lectures interesting and incorporates humour and some of his own experiences in the field. One of my better classes this semester. His exams are very fair - combination of multiple choice questions (from textbook) and short answer questions (usually from lectures). Easy class, if you read the textbook!

So boring! Almost all his exam questions were random, and sometimes you never even learned about what he asked. Made everyone fall asleep in lectures, and expected you to know things he never talked about and the textbook never taught. Don't take his class!

Writes the most random tests that includes the most trivial questions. Tends to go on irrelevant tangents in lecture and tries too hard to be funny sometimes. Must study the textbook thoroughly to do well on exams and he does include a few questions that are lecture-specific.

I registered this class without doing research on the professor, and I regret not doing so. Tests are very challenging, focuses on miniature details. You have to go to class to take notes because he does not post the slides online. Markings for midterms took a really long time. But definitely interesting material
