A real gem. He's one of the worst profs that I've seen. He's not approachable either. Some of the courses he is assigned teach the fundamentals of electrical engineering. Students won't learn with him and in the end, the University gets a bad name. Avoid him if you can. The department should ditch him.

Although one of the worst teachers I've had so far, and had him multiple times already, he does seems to be trying to get better. Unfortunately, he is still really bad. If Dr. Raut is reading this, perhaps you should ditch the iPad, since the handwriting is horrendous.

Pay attention, be in the front of the class, speak to him when you don't understand what's going on. He cares that you understand the material, he actively asks for feedback from the students to be a better professor. Don't take him if you attend classes only to spend the whole session on your phone.

He is a very hard teacher, and his method of teaching is not easy to understand (he writes with his fingers on his ipad projected on the big screen, illegible). This being said, he is a very very intelligent individual and helpful when you ask questions. (Don't be late, Don't ask questions of two lectures ago). Study Hard you might pass.

Dr Raut is an excellent professor and he is very fair with his grading (highest 4-5 grades get A+, next 4-5 get A, etc.). Would take again.

Exams are harder than assignments. Moderately harsh grader. His accent may be hard to understand for some. He is very knowledgeable, but tends to forget we are students. I suggest students to use the textbook extensively and to ask questions. Note: It is very important to understand this class for future courses such as ELEC 311 and 312.

Avoid at any cost. He is absolutely useless. I could not understand anything at his lectures. Exams are OK if you read the textbook. Are we paying for an opportunity to read the textbook? It is a shame for the department to have teachers like him.

Never before have I had a teacher that can give a lecture for three hours straight on a brand new subject, and have student leave class having no idea what he was talking about or even how to solve a problem. He also wrote the book that he wants you to use, and it is indecipherable. Avoid this professor at all costs.

He uses an Ipad to teach students and whatever he writes you won't be able to read or have a chance to revise the note after, so Class is useless. The exam isn't really hard if you skip classes and study like crazy by yourself. He doesn't care about STUDENTS. ELEC311: 16 FAILED & ELEC312: 17 FAILED. Well, if you have this guy, good luck then!

This prof is one of the most helpful I have seen. He will sit with a student in his office and will go over calculation to get a mistake. This prof gives exams similar to the assignments, which is a big benefit. No surprise with him, do the assignments, understand the material, and It's an A. I'm not an A student but with him it was not too hard

Very poor communicator. Horrible teacher, hard to understand when he is talking. Straightforward exams. If you are the type to put in work on your own and do all the assignments, you will get an easy A.

Raut is a smart guy that does appear to care about his students. With that said, he is unclear (mumbles + language barrier) and projects notes from his iPad to a screen, which makes copying notes difficult. I usually left lectures feeling hopeless and not understanding anything. My success in this class is thanks to the section's Tutorial teacher.

His exams are straight forward. If you practice, like you should, then I see no reason for you to not get at least a B- to an A. Unfortunately the positiveness ends there. His teaching skills are so horrible. He writes on his IPad and projects his bad handwriting on the projector and low voice. Harsh marker regardless of how simple the exam is.

I just completed my engr 213 with this teacher. I must admit, regardless of how smart he is, his teaching skills are not up to the university standard. To sum it up, I had to use youtube (patrickjmt - check his channel out if you're taking engr 213, he will save your life!) to teach myself everything.

The class is not very hard. But he's very monotone and makes the class very boring. I barely understand what he said in the class. Mostly, i studies by myself. The midterm and final exams are very alike to the previous exams. He wrote his own textbook. There are a lot of mistakes in the book and it's very hard to understand.

he's really not that bad, his questions are very similar to the textbook! You need to UNDERSTAND NOT MEMORIZE thats why most ppl do terribly in this course! Its not that difficult to get an A if you do the work!
