Great Prof. Gives students room to express their thoughts, even in an intro course. A welcome change if you're bored of the memorization that most first year courses seem to be focused on. Gives great study guidelines for exams, but be sure to be thorough. I felt excited about psychology after taking her class.

Rachel is an amazing prof & super understandable if you're having issues. Your work doesn't have to be amazing but as long as you show in your writing that you are listening & have grasped what she's taught you with good reference and good reflection, you'll get an A. She just wants people to leave with an expanded mind.

I had her during my first year at VIU. I had a death in my family During semester, my family was in another province. I had a lot of work in other courses, she told me to focus on family and other classes. she has given me a huge extension. if it weren't for her, I would have failed uni. We need more profs like her: she truly is a gem. thank u Rach

Rachel is the best professor for psychology. She has a specialty in child psychology and a vast landscape of knowledge to empathy on students who care about what she teaches. She is more of a qualitative stance to psychology although educates both qualitative and quantitative. Amazing professor!

Rachel is a true diamond in the rough of teachers! She is professor quality material and will challenge your mind more than what one can read any day of the week from a textbook. If you are familiar with the humanistic school of thought of Dr. Victor Franklin, Dr. Rachel Cooper is amongst the great thinkers such as Dr. Franklin. Very altruistic!

Rachel is amazing . She provides a uniqueness and genuine passion for teaching. However, if you do not enjoy her way of teaching (which can be very broad to say the least) and prefer a more 'by the books' way of learning, I would not advise her. For me, she has been wonderful and gave me a lot to think about beyond just the 90 minute class.

Rachel is by far the worst professor I've had. I can tell that she's a wonderful person, but she really shouldn't be teaching. She's a rambling hippie, who is incredibly unfocused and hard to follow. I will tell you that she is a generous grader, but the trade off is having to sit through a class while wanting to tear all your hair out from boredom

She was very scattered and unfocused. We did not follow the syllabus, and she often went off on tangents of her own opinions on things like feminism when it was a class on ageing. The assigned readings were only talked about for one class at the very end, and often looked toward her students to guide the direction of the course. Confusing class.

This Prof is one of the most accommodating. I am very surprised by some of the comments here - because she gave us all the responsibility of the text and coordinating her lectures back to it - then was so accommodating on quizzes and take home options. If you understand her style - you will learn and get much from this class.

Rachel was a great professor. She is very open to class decision making on whether tests should be done every chapter or have midterms instead. Her tests were fairly easy as well as long as you studied the items she told you to look over.

This lady deserves an award for teaching, which is why I find it funny that some have rated her quite low. If you understand how to utilize a professor who gives you the freedom to explore whatever avenue you find interesting, regardless of how related it is to course material, the amount intellectual growth that can be attained is truly amazing.

Gah! she started off nice, then went a little crazy. Exams are on textbook material, but she doesn't talk about the book at all! should have been about development through the lifespan, instead she talked about ghosts, telekenesis and reincarnation. Also has a tendency to publicly humiliate students who offer opinions that differ from her own!

Great Prof and I enjoyed her classes. She is super smart and has a ton of knowledge. Very willing to help her students to understand and will answer emailsl. She allows for creative expression and many students do not understand how to do this (especially right out of high school).

i guess i've pretty much paid to listen to other people talk, rather than learn stuff i need for my future courses? great for some people, but i'd rather learn the material, not be attending a group therapy session.
