This prof is decent! Her lectures are kind of all over the place and so you have to read textbook to put things together. Overall though the tests were exactly as she says they will be, no hard questions and the final she gives you the exact kinds of questions she will ask. Good prof overall though, not really any complaints.

Amazing professor. Very passionate about philosophy, and genuinely cares and wants you to succeed in the course. She also has great notes so it is easy to follow along. Her humour is endearing and makes the class enjoyable. Easy A if you take this course with her.

She's nice, passionate and prepared. Lectures resemble "random whiteboard words + rare slide". If you don't listen closely, you won't understand. She checks attendance and participation. 3 short essays & short pre-essay development. Some dense reading. Slight focus on Aristotle, Ptolemy, Kepler, Popper & Kuhn, Newton(Astr. and Phys).

i would honestly recommend taking this class with her, she puts the students in 6 groups, three of these groups goes on tuesdays and the rest on thursdays so i had that class once a week, also you have tutorials during the lecture, you get to show your hw and talk about the hw and for that you get two marks. Also her tests were super easy.

The course itself I found quite difficult, however she was willing to help if you asked. Her lectures are flipped, meaning the lectures are online and you're expected to do the classwork/homework in class in the form of tutorials, taken place during the time of the lecture. She teaches with humour, very enjoyable prof

Prof. Martens is pretty good. She gives helpful lecture videos & extra credits. You only need to come a dayweek for tutorials so Attendance is MANDATORY! And you have to read like 2 chaptersweek, do quiz and hw, and prepare for tutorials. Tests are tricky but easy if you know your stuff. anw, 95%+ is the requirement to pass this class with an A+.

i was told this class would be easy by many people yet when I would ask them questions about what we were learning they had no idea what I was talking about and when I asked her questions about how other profs where teaching she said there was no way to do it that way and her way was the easiest to understand, don't take this class with her

I found the class really interesting, and I liked how she covered a range of topics. She's clearly very passionate about what she teaches, and she was very knowledgeable on a variety of topics. She actively encouraged students to share their ideas in class, and I found it easy to get good marks on assignments.

Comment:
The way she structured this course is terrible, not to mention how much rhetoric and pointless things she speaks of in class. If you take this course with any other prof it will be much easier, you wont have 3 midterms and a final plus redundant group assignments and online quizes. Do yourself a favour and take the course in a different section.

Comment:
Very unclear in subjective explanations. Textbook is useless and is entirely based on the author's agenda. Doesn't teach you anything! Third test is crazy hard and if you don't go up to the board, RM doesn't teach you anything. Notes very ambiguous and garbled; only reason to go to class is to explain what the notes are supposed to mean. Pointless

She seems like a super nice lady, but as a professor she's merely average. Her explanations aren't always the clearest and she doesn't present the material in the best way. Does not provide answers for exercises, which makes her exercises useless. Third test is ridiculously difficult. Never thought critical thinking would bring my GPA down...

She is very willing to help when you are having trouble with a concept and she will change her teaching style to accomodate the class' learning styles. Also if you have a topic that you want to discuss, she will put aside half a class or even a class to discuss it.

Man, it's been awhile since I took her class but I definitely remember her. It was an all girls class (coincidentally) and as such, our discussions were VERY candid. She was open to it, very friendly, interesting, and outgoing. She got the discussions going and kept us on our toes. Decent prof.
