5 unannounced quizzes, midterm, & final are main grades for this class. All are short answer; can use notes only on quizzes. Interesting class; usually open discussion on reading assignments (debate style w/ professor adding different viewpoints). Overall, good professor and enjoyable class.

One of the most brilliant professors I've ever had. He's very willing to help you out, especially with your research paper. He knows what he's talking about and class is pretty interesting. Be careful, he's a stickler for MLA citation. Also, it's a discussion-based class, so answer the questions you know before he calls on you for a hard question.

Brilliant man! Really knows what he's talking about and uses real-life examples to clarify his points during class. Don't think I came to a single class without laughing at some point. Great sense of humor and it shows. Fairly tough grader, a couple tests, and like 3 brief (3 page) papers. Overall a really enjoyable class! I recommend him!

Smartest professor i've ever had. Very fun to have class with him this man has a great sense of humor. Deadlines are very flexible. Although you have to write a 15 page research paper he walks you through the process. It is an honors class so it is hard and there's a lot of work.

His class was fun: we had frequent discussions and, unlike with some professors, his stories or comments were relevant and often funny. His assignments are almost entirely in the form of essays: many are short, a few are longer. He grades them fairly, any competent job should get you a B. Rather a stickler for citations, though. Before the class, I had little interest or understanding of Darwin/evolution and during it I often felt lost but in the end I feel that I have definitly come to a better understanding of this topic. He forced us to tackle very difficult readings but because of his in depth knowledge of the subject we were able to understand it. Plus he is so nice!

It's an honr class, so there is honr work. lots of papers and 5 debates. its a discussion based class and participation is a MAJOR MUST. but he is SO helpful and you can even email him your paper before it's due and he reads it and comments on it.
