This guy is awesome! lectures are hilarious and labs are a blast, field trips every lab. No final exam just 3 exams throughout the semester. No big projects but you do read 3 novels. By far the best professor i'v had.

I am a student at SUNY Binghamton and this by FAR the BEST Science Class I have ever taken and will ever take in my life. Dr. Firenze is hands down the best teacher I've ever had. Don't listen to the other reviews, this class is not hard. I hate science and loved his course.

Ive taken 5 classes with Firenze, every semester Ive tried to squeeze 1 or 2 in, so I always know there will be a class I love in my schedule. Dr. Firenze is an incredible man - hes kind, funny, smart, and passionate. If you have the chance to take his Out West, Everglades, or his London course please take the chance. Dr. Firenze is the man!

He is a nice guy, but his tests are crazy hard. He will put up the slides on study guide on blackboard, but wont put all the slides on there, if you need a definition then youre out of luck, wont be on the slides. Puts stuff on the test that wasnt on the study guide, and unless you remember 9th grade bio really well, you wont know how to do it

Dr. Firenze is the reason I am going into biology. When I first started college, I had no idea what I wanted to study. I took Dr. Firenze's class and his passion for the subject rubbed off on me. He's passionate, knowledgeable, kind, and very funny. His lectures are really enjoyable, and really informative. Highly recommended!

The guys great; funny, passionate, and literally knows everything. He doesn't use a textbook so you'll have to learn to think a little differently (n always a bad thing). He gives lots of extra credit. His tests really aren't that difficult if you use the objectives he gives you. Overall a great class, by far the best professor on campus

Firenze is arguably the best professor on campus. He is absolutely brilliant and his passion for biology is contagious. He is always willing to help you out, be it for his class or career and degree advice. He's a genuinely good guy who wants you to succeed and helps you to do it. That said, his classes are challenging and you have to earn your A

One of my favorite professors, second time through college. Energetic, cares about students, seems to have the answer to literally any question, hilarious. His tests however, are super hard. I walked away from them physically exhausted. That being said, he ignited a passion for biology in me that I didn't know I had.

Firenze is the man. Took 3 classes with the guy and learned more and more from him every single day. He is so knowledgable and kind. His classes are hard, and if you don't show up or you fail to study, you won't pass. He makes it incredibly easy to email back and forth about test content, don't be scared to talk to him about it! Loved having him!!!

One of the best and hardest professors I've had at Broome. His lectures are cool and interesting plus we go on field trips sometimes during labs. Very hard course so if you're not that good at science then don't take him.

Best D (please, the grade) I've ever earned. We live in a beautiful place and he takes advantage of it, all the Lab trips were fantastic and learning about trees just makes sense. No textbooks, just books, and they were actually REALLY interesting if you're cool. Just be willing to work and study your ass off, there's no "half credit" here.

I love being in Dr Firenze class. He makes learning about basic biology fun. You have to come to class and do the work, but he doesn't surprise you with anything. He tells you exactly what he expects and if you listen you will do great. His lectures are always fun and even the labs are enjoyable.

I absolutely LOVE Dr. Firenze. His class is very difficult- don't think you'll get an A without coming to class or doing work. He makes lecture fun and interesting. Tests are difficult as well, you NEED to study. I was never strong or even interested in any science until I took Firenze. Taking his class was rewarding. Amazing person/professor.

didn't like this teacher. books werent relevant and called for analyzing like it was an english course. study guides poorly reflected test material. unless you noted EVERY word he spoke and put on power points u dont stand a chance.this class ruined my 4.0! when a 4.0 gpa student walks out of your course with a C+ that has to tell you something!!!

Energetic, interesting and knowledgeable teacher. He has wonderful class assignments and activities. For an intro. class it is challenging, but his class activities make it worth it. His lectures are funny and interesting, so paying attention is easy. As mentioned in other reviews, if you are at weak sciences avoid him; if not, I recommend him.

What people fail to realize is the fact that OF COURSE you're going to learn about evolution. It's a huge part of biology! I took 3 classes with him and he's my favorite professor I have ever had. Continues to challenge me and made me realize that I don't want to do anything other than study biology for the rest of my life. Thank you Dr. F.
