He has got to be the most self-absorbed, critical, and straight-up cruel teacher I have ever encountered in my 15 years of schooling-he by far takes the cake! The focus of the classes was HIM, not the Bible as it should have been. Oh ya-you'll love the story of him performing an exorcism!! I would totally avoid his classes AT ALL COSTS!!!

Teaching is surprisingly good. Personality is horrible. He is a haughty, stuck up, opinionated man. He talks about his "lawyering" days as if he was an attorney for 20 yrs (he wasn't). He also made libelous accusations against McCain in 2000; he should have been fired then. Avoid ANY of his classes at all costs.

Can you say "huge ego"? When's the last time you've heard a lawyer call himself/herself a doctor? He has a J/D. Give me a break. He should teach theater with all the acting he does in class. I had him for 2 Bible classes and 3 Law classes. He chooses great texts but is a horrible teacher. If you want to learn something study the class texts.

Interesting, I guess. Easy for me, but hard for other ppl b/c of weirdly worded quizzes. Scary syllabus. Yells at odd times. Like the way he reads the Bible. All in all, easy class-slept like a rock!

Good on law (cf. JD), terrible on Bible. Never had Bible class yet teaches it!!! Terrible disrepectful and ignorant, and unreasonable and egotistical. His lectures are examples to my students of what not to do to Biblical texts! Take lessons from your son Brian...he's outstanding!

Too bad his course is required. Never have I encountered a man so obsessed with his own person. His class sounds like a constant puff fest, where he stands in front of the class and tells outlandish stories of his exploits, including demon exorcism. Someone should tell him that he's not supposed to use Dr. with a J.D. Only a jerk would do that.

C'mon dude, let's drop this Dr. business. His doctorate is in jurisprudence i.e. he is a lawyer. That means he has reached the minimum qualification to practice his profession yet he uses it to establish his credibility in his Bible classes as if that were his primary field of study. aka Mr. Hand-out or simply ****. Both for good reason.

I will always remember Dr. Hand by his interesting (and often very humorous)object lessons. My classes with him were large (over 100 students), but they felt small because of his regular interaction with the students. I remember much from his Bible classes because of his teaching methods and have benefited greatly. Excellent teacher!!

A lawyer teaching Bible class is a recipe for disaster. I came in late to class one day and he took me outside the class and told me he would turn me in for direct disobedience (25 dems) if I was ever late again. He thought the school handled lates far too casually, so he was going to take matters into his hands. Talk about an abuse of power!
