Comment:

Professor McGovern is definitely the one to take if you have to take calc with management applications. He's a difficult grader, but really nice and wants everyone to do well. Flexible grading system, always willing to meet to discuss questions or possible mis-grading of test. You have to work hard, but it's definitely possible to do well.

He's pretty thorough and very clear in class. His homework isn't graded and can be difficult but the quizes are not that bad. I struggled through pre-calc in high school and I'm understanding fine so he must doing something right. I'd recommend him for sure

I warmed up to him by the end of the semester, but he's definitely old school. Very bright but sometimes hard to follow, especially in class (makes errors on the board and often misspeaks). He's more than willing to help you during office hours, so utilize his time there! As long as you make an effort and show you're trying, he's glad to help you!

He knows calculus very well, but if you do not take pre-calc beforehand then you will not find this class easy. He will also talk down to you and treat you like you are worthless in his eyes if you do not know anything. Avoid him at all costs.

I love Professor McGovern. He's a little bit all over the place and we as students have to correct him very frequently. However, he does a very thorough job explaining everything and is good about partial credit. Overall, he's a good teacher and is even funny at times!

If you're not a math major, don't enjoy math, or if you didnt do well at calc in high school. I DO NOT recommend this man for Calc 2. Calc 2 is much harder than Calc 1 and you will need a good teacher. I had an A- in Calc 1 and ended up dropping Calc 2 because of this man and the difficulty of his course.

For his calc class there are two options. If you've taken calc before you will be fine, and his classes are interesting and easy. If you have not, prepare to struggle. He goes very fast in class, is hard to understand, and frequently talks down to students. Having said that, the man is a genius. His mannerisms are funny if your getting a good grade

out of 25 kids to start only about half of that remained by spring break. very hard teacher, always when writing notes on the board messes up causing everyone to get lost. takes off alot points on tests for little things.very dull and boring and dreaded class. almost dropped out myself but taught myself the material.if you like math this is for you

Math is usually one of my more favorite subjects, but his teaching style made me dread going to class. "Notes" were completely unorganized, he had enough trouble following his own train of thought than teaching. If you're willing to teach yourself most of the material you should get by, but I really wouldn't recommend taking him.

If you don't like math such as me, he can be really hard/confusing. Writes everything on the board and goes really fast. Takes off a lot of points for the littlest things on tests. Can be really unfair about his grading. Really nice guy though,and is there for help. Take him if you love math.

oh my god. this professor is literally the hardest grader i've ever seen. he'd put the grades up after every test and practically every kid would fail. and no extra credit either. he's impossible to understand. he stutters like crazy. DO NOT TAKE HIM FOR STATS.

Very confusing; he even confuses himself. He says one thing, and writes another. His writing is impossible to read. Boring class. Learned nothing. Nice man, not a good professor. Good math theory class! When we delt w/ numbers it was only some basic algebra. I had an awesome group so I liked the group work. We had him look over our write-ups the class before it was due so we were able to correct our mistakes. He allows re-writes so it's def possible to do well in his class. I never liked math but this class boosted my GPA!

I had prof mcgovern for both calc III and linear algebra and he is a great professor the material is tough but he is willing to explain everything as many times needed...always willing to help during his office hours...wants you to do well...def recommended

Prof. McGovern is awesome! Kind of boring in class, but is very knowledgeable and very helpful. If you don't understand something he will explain it as long as necessary until you get it. Definitely utilize office hours.

This teacher drove me crazy yet I learned so much from him. I was completely frustrated and lost in a MBA statistics class last year online but in the end, I really did learn statitics so I have to say that although he is not always that helpful- he makes you figure it out for yourself and allows your classmates to jump in and help you.
