Professor Rains gives the good ole white board lectures. He keeps you captivated into the material through the history and derivation of the laws of physics. You can really see his passion and wisdom as he explains the physical nature of matter. I became inspired to be a theoretical physicist. He makes you work, but it's all for the better in life

Winter class. He's a fantastic lecturer, he's super passionate about the material and it shows. He does talk a bit monotonously, so it's hard to stay awake some times! Print out the study guide on the first day and USE IT. His pop quizzes contain questions on the final, so study them! Ask questions, and USE THE STUDY GUIDE.

Great professor, knows what he's talking about. Make sure to take notes and study and you can get an A. He's fair and tries to help out the students as much as he can. Don't miss class, he gives homework and post lecture quizzes but their easy so long as you paid attention during class and did the homework (which shouldn't be too hard either).

Amazing lecturer. His lectures are extremely engaging. Classes are mandatory because you turn in homeworks in the first 15 minutes, though you won't want to miss them as they are not a drag. Aside from being great help and easy to approach, he REALLY REALLY knows his stuff. I mean, this man is a pure genius, with a great sense of humor.

It is always in high demand and fills up quickly- and I can see why. But seriously, its NOT for the faint at heart. The class requires a lot of studying and reading, so if you think you can pass without doing any work- you're dead wrong. The professor is really passionate about the content, and made it easy to learn and had fun.

My first college course. I was a bit overwhelmed with the difficulty. However, Rains is a FANTASTIC teacher. He's the nicest guy, has a passion for the material and genuinely enjoys seeing kids learn. Grade rests heavily on quizzes short with 4-5 problems, STUDY. He drops the lowest grades at the end. The subject is difficult, not the professor.

Simple Daily quiz about Prior weeks Lab, (can use lab report during quiz). Be thorough in your weekly lab reports and you will do well on the final. Its open Lab reports. No textbook, just a packet and star chart. Cheap. Fun class! Teacher is passionate about what he does. Great class imo.

If you are going to take PHYS 37 anyway, this means you passed Calc 1 and are ready to go hard in the paint. Mission is lucky to have Prof Rains and extremely lucky to have STEM funding for the PHYS 37, 38 and 39 series. Rains truly knows his stuff and is the ideal professor for such a rigorous course. Rains is not hard, the MATERIAL is!

He's a great professor. Sure, he may give quizzes every class meeting, but they're pretty simple if you just do the homework and read a few pages of the chapter he assigns. He's quick with updating your grades and handing back hw, quizzes, and labs. Pretty easy class if you just do the work.

Professor rains is very intense. He gives a quiz every day and assigns homework every day(even for the midterm and final). he makes sure his class is your priority. The lectures are weirdly prepared and you will never understand his chicken scratch. he does give good examples when explaining material though.

This an interesting class but he is kind of everywhere when teaching. He isn't organized when teaching, just goes along the rthe lines of the quiz given that day. (There's a quiz everyday) You'll pass the tests if you do every single question in the study guide but he doesn't go over all the material so you're on your own.

He really rushes through the lecture and it's difficult to understand his writing sometimes. You need to attend class everyday. I recommend reading the book before lecture days to really understand the material and do well on the quizzes.
