I had for three classes with him. The man didn't reference notes for his lectures. Just him and the chalkboard for 50 minutes. The lectures were dry at some point, but if you paid attention you learned a great deal. What set him apart were his office hours. He took great time and care to explain concepts. Hard, but fair graded.

Professor Trethewey is definitely smart. However, he is SO SO SO SO boring. I don't think I've ever had a teacher who is this boring. Paying attention during his classes is a challenge. However he is understanding and can be helpful during office hours. He grades pretty harshly but his tests/homework are doable.

Great guy, good class, Winston rocks. Did have us all thinking finals week was going to be easy, then assigned a 12-15 page paper and a 8-12 page take-home. But take notes in class and you'll most likely be fine. (this all applies to 300-level, not intro)

Amazing professor. Knows so much about the material, and goes over things in class so that you really know the material well. You have to go to class however and take good notes, but that's not that hard. One of the best professors that I've ever had, he's a genius, and has a great dry sense of humor!

great professor. gives great examples from history and explains stuff well in his office hours, don't expect him to me amusing in front of class, but he thows out some good jokes once in while, but you have to be smart to get them. i'd suggest you take him if you're really interested in the subject, it will be a worth-while experience.

As mentioned, very dry. When I stayed awake I learned a lot and enjoyed it very much. Didn't find him to be too difficult.

Winston rules. That's his dog. But rt rules as well, if you like theory of econ more than useless, random Melick numbers, he rocks.

Awesome guy, good sense of humor, but very dry. Still, you should take his classes, especially the 300 and 400 levels. What the hell kind of a classroom is this?

I hated 202 --- its a required course if you're an econ major, he drones on, there's no discussion, its very dry. But his other classes are great and he's helpful in office hours. He picks interesting (albeit slanted) readings, and is a lot of fun.
