Dr. Appleford knows a lot about the course and is a very smart man but the way he marks is super hard. I tried hard in the class and still didn't do so well. He's willing to help you if you book an appointment and is really helpful one on one but I only had one opportunity to go ask for help. Overall, the course is not a first year level.

I received an A+ on every other paper I wrote this semester, but the highest I got on a paper in Appleford's class is an A-. He refuses to give out a B+ to anyone the first two essays, and I haven't heard of anyone getting an A. He is EXTREMELY vague in what he expects in papers. An interesting course overall, but should not be a 100-level.

His feedback is relatively vague and poor. Not very approachable. He likes to leave you in the dark about things and let you figure things out for yourself - meanwhile he's grades very hard. Assigned too many texts. Okay prof who's knowledgable, but certainly isn't helpful.

He's a great prof who is easy on the eyes. You had better like the subject as he makes you write 3 position papers and 3 essays throughout the term. He focuses on essay structure and holds round tables with the class to try to help you. He is truly a great prof who cares about your education. Would take again!

If I could do my University Career over I would take every class Dr Appleford taught. He encourages you to think about things in a novel way, without punishing you if you struggle to do so. Super passionate about what he teaches and I always learn a lot in his classes. Fair marker and creates a great classroom environment.

I worked my butt off in this class but it was worth it in the end as I felt that I had learned quite alot. And yes, he is easy on the eyes, which makes going to class that much more fun

He is one of my favourite profs i've come across. He expects students to participate in class discussion, but the readings arent too hard so thats easy to do. He is really nice, and very enthusiastic! He obviously has a lot of knowledge and wants to share it. Also, he's a pretty young guy so his pop culture references are hilarious!

Fabulous! Is so excited about what he's teaching that he makes you excited to learn. If you do your reading, the class is even more fun but he won't embarrass you if you haven't. His assignments are creative and he lets you do your own thinking.
