Get ready for a solid 3 hours of banjo music, cutting sarcasm, and obscure music trivia complete with brutally harsh grading. Dr. Dillon self-describes as "the least helpful man on campus" so if you are struggling you'll just have to find someone else to ask. Dillon claims to have given out only 8 A's in his 32 year career at CofC and fails many.

Make no mistake, he's as awful as other reviews say he is. I loved lecture, then took this lab later because I needed a lab credit. If your in the same boat, I highly encourage you to 1st try and find an easy lecture with a lab instead of this. You'll be lucky if you pass, and if you do it's not worth the misery and stress.

This wasn't the easiest class I've taken, but if you do what's asked, TAKE NOTES on the talks he gives before each lab, and answer all the questions for the labs, you will do fine. Some of the comments about Dr. Dillon are a bit unfair. He won't ever directly answer your question, but he will assist you in arriving at the answer on your own.

Most unfair and ignorant person I have ever met. Run as fast as you can from this man! He thinks he is god's gift to earth and enjoys making students miserable. He was by far the worst professor I had at the College of Charleston. I will never donate a dime to the school until he is gone.

Horrible man. Enjoys being obtuse and making the class unreasonably difficult. You will receive zero direction or information necessary to do the labs. Knowledge of genetics will not help you. What a sick experience this has been. Avoid, Avoid, Avoid.

Who ever wrote that we all just need to stop whining and appreciate being challenged was probably hired by Dillon. I don't care if you have to take a whole extra semester, do not take this class. It made me hate genetics and the entire Biology Department. He straight up told me the goal of the class was to make him happy. He's a horrible man.

WORST PROFESSOR I HAVE EVER HAD. He must have some kind of sick mental disorder because he enjoys making your life miserable during this class. He blatantly refuses to help any student and tries to make you look like an idiot. He is not allowed to teach lecture anymore because of how bad he is--that should tell you something.

This guy is quite possibly the worst professor at the college. His lectures are impossible to follow and he treats you like you're an idiot if you go to him for help. This is more of a math class than a bio class. Studying won't help bc the tests are nothing like the homework or the book. Highest grade on the first test was a D, most people failed.

yeah, he was a jerk, and yeah, his class was really, really, ridiculously hard, but i learned so much. You just have to pay attention and devote a lot of effort to the class to get a good grade (which in this case is about a B or C). I hate the man, but I'm glad I took his class.

I wonder if he treats his own children the way he treats his students...something to the effect of kid asking "Dad, will you teach me how to drive?" and dad replying "No stupid. You are not worthy of a driver's license. EVER! Geeze don't cry about it." Anyway, that's just an example of his typical behavior; I'd change majors before taking him again

One of the worst profs I've had. Class: one B+, one B, rest C's, D's, F. He doesn't explain the material and tests are IMPOSSIBLE and long. He kicks you out at the end of class, period. Test ave was 50, then curved. He's got a huge ego and tends to rant a lot. Don't go for help cos he'll tell you the wrong info. Study EVERYTHING...and still fail.
