Comment:

Rob is one of the best professors I've ever had. He is hilarious and so passionate about biology. Instead of having a few tests, you'll have LOTS of quizzes (roughly one per week). Highly recommend taking this class if you are in need of a science credit, but aren't a biology major!

Comment:

I LOVE Rob. He is so passionate and adorable about wetlands. The material is a little tricky, but he makes it really interesting! Just pay attention in class and take notes on his lectures, and you'll be fine. Just be aware that the grade is only off of weekly quizzes (which can be curved or dropped) and a final. Wonders of Wetlands is amazing!

Comment:

"Rob" is so passionate about this class and manages to keep me intrigued the entire time. No homework, attendance isn't mandatory (highly recommended though). He is hilarious and makes lots of dad jokes. His quirkiness is admirable and his passion for teaching this class is evident every time he walks into the room. Love this class!

Robert Atkinson is a wonderful professor & probably my favorite at CNU. He is very friendly & truly cares about his students & the material he is teaching. He offers so many extra credit opportunities that it is impossible to fail. He never takes attendance & there is no homework or reading outside of class. Weekly quizzes & one exam: the final.

This is an easy A if you study for the weekly quizzes. He is all over the place and hard to pay attention to. His powerpoints don't really make sense and he gets very distracted, but is a nice guy. A ton of extra credit opportunities.

Coolest Bio professor. you take a 10 multiple choice question quiz a week and then the final, that's it. Easy class if you take bio115. I'm sure he's great in other courses. Funny, cool, and respectful guy who always is interested in his students. Would take him again. Doesn't take attendance, just expects you to pass the quizzes.

He is nice and approachable BUT he is severely disorganized. He expects you to keep up with his lectures that have no theme and have essays on each page. This class is passable but very frustrating. I do not recommend taking this class.

For the lab he expects you to do all the work by yourself but then gives you all these hoops you have to jump through in order to actually do the work. He gives you no direction but expects you to know exactly what to do. Please aviod.

Atkinson goes off topic a lot and is all over the place in his lectures. The power point slides have essays on them and it's hard to get all the information. He is very disorganized. It is hard to know what will be on quizzes and there's no textbook for the class so you can't even teach yourself.

Honestly, I'm still in this class, and I'm struggling so badly with it. He isn't clear about what he expects from his students, I've been to his office hours and he was almost no help, and there isn't even a textbook for the course. This class is way too difficult for a 100-level Bio course, and I really don't think he should be teaching.

Extremely disappointed by this course/ professor. Love this subject. Atkinson rambles, and goes off topic. He keeps class light, but I haven't learned a thing and his quizzes are unreasonable! I would not recommend this teacher at all!

He's such a sweet guy. He cares about the subject and his students. I'm in his ecology course on wetlands and he makes the class interesting and easy to understand. Copy the notes, read over them, and you'll be fine.

I've never had a professor that was as passionate about educating his students as Rob. Extremely helpful,genuinely nice and easy to get along with. Class wasn't bad at all and even borderline fun at times. Show effort, show up to class and you will do well. An overall excellent educator and good person.

Atkinson?s favorite subject is wetlands and he bases the class around it and makes it interesting. He always has something funny to say too. He is easy to talk to and will clarify anything that you don?t understand. As long as you study well for his quizzes and the final, you should do just fine. Also, I never had to use the optional book.

I love having him as a teacher. He has a great sense of humor and is very clear. However, GO TO CLASS. Although he posts power points on scholar, do not think you can get away with just studying them alone. One of the best teachers I've had by far. He makes learning fun and engaging. I highly recommend him.
