I did my thesis under Dr. Hursey and took several graduate courses under him. He was very professional and expected you to work very hard. Dr. Hursey prepared me well for the real world and to push myself to the maximum. I got my masters in 1975 and still remember one of his key sayings - "The object is to produce light- not heat".

The hardest prof. I ever had but he taught me to think and he pushed me to my fullest potential. He pushed me to get my masters in math and I am so glad he did. He was always very helpful to me you just had to understand his ways. He didn't put up with any BS excuses.

Dr. Hursey was the best professor of mathematics I ever had. He was clear in his explanations, and for anyone who studies, his tests were very reasonable. I took many courses with him, both graduate and undergraduate. For anyone interested in understanding mathematics, I consider him the very best.

Didn't let us use calculators for trig. but wasn't too bad. I actually learned alot about trig. the traditional way. It makes more sense now, having to learn it by the book. It's not as bad as you think if you are a thinker.

Dr. Hursey may be very smart when it comes to knowing calculus but he is a terrible teacher. He shouldn't be teaching. He has no interest in seeing students succeed in his class. He is disrespectful to students and belittles anyone who asks a question about material he is covering. It's a shame we have to pay for a class where nothing is learned

Worst teacher ever!! I have always disliked math and now I can surely say that I HATE IT!! Very rude to students who ask questions. Gives HW and tests on stuff that he claims he has already taught but didnt. He thinks he's funny sometimes when he cracks jokes..uh-uh. Definitely drop this class even if you like math, cuz he will make u hate it

I can't believe he is still allowed to teach- how he ever got tenure is beyond me! You would think that a teacher with such poor feedback might be evaluated and asked to resign...he is old as dirt anyways. I think a boycott would be smart. Like everybody else has said, get out as soon as you can. He could not possibly make the class more boring, I think he just likes to listen to himself talk. Math was a breeze for me till this class. I still got an A somehow, but he is the worst professor ever. Find someone else quick.

This man is a horrible professor!I have an B in his class,and that's only because I went 2 math labs and taught my myself! -he goes really slow in the beginning and then tries to cram @ the end, gives 30 page hand written notes, makes u feel stupid if u ask a question, holds class over

I don't see what the big deal is. He's not the best teacher ever, but it's not a very hard class, he spends a lot of time reviewing algebra which you should already know. If you take good notes you should make an A without having to try too hard. My main complaint is that he's rude to students when they ask questions.

The professors will give you the deal on this guy if you ask. He is awful. Just awful. One likened it to a 'suicidal experience' in regards to a query about elements of calculus from a student. He is disliked by the faculty within the math department. You have other options, so take another professor.
