If you, like me, got stuck with this prof, just participate. I was basically the only one in my class who said a word and I received an A possibly because of it. Don't give up! It may be the most painful 50 minutes ever, but if you work hard enough you will get an A!

Worst teacher I've ever had. I had no idea what he was talking about most of the time. The whole class period consisted of him rambling on about nothing and telling pointless stories, and then letting us out late every day.

If you smash your head against a brick wall 4 times a week for 50 (+5 extra) minutes everyday it could be less painful than taking this class. You would probably come out a better writer too because you might lose more braincells listening to him ramble about useless information that has nothing to do with English. AVOID AT ALL COSTS!

what saved this class was the people who suffered through it with me. lietz is definitely a nice enough guy, but he is not qualified to teach. the university gives him far too much responsibility for an MFA. he added next to nothing to the class and often wished he hadn't shown up at all. we would have gotten more done that way...

The worst experience that i have ever had with English. If you want any chance at all, stay far far away. I honestly do not know how he is still in the classroom. If he does not agree with what you are saying, he will lower the grade. Good luck if you are stuck with him... don't expect an A or anything near it!

Very difficult grader. Doesn't let you do re-writes and expects you to write perfectly. Oftentimes he doesn't really know where you are going with your writing and gives bad suggestions. If you get on his good side though, your grade will rise.

Despite all the horror stories, he isn't as bad as it sounds. He is very condescending, but also easy to meet out of class and he tries to help. The Norton Reader readings are a pain, but he doesn't grade anything but your papers. He's a very hard grader, but you get the hand of it. I have never worked so hard for a B.

Dr.Lietz's class is probably the worst class I have ever experienced. When you sign up for writing, it says staff, instead of his name for a reason,because no one would sign up for his classes! He told us there is no reason to give out anything higher than a C, so dont expect it and he doesnt really help with anything either. If you get him drop!

I had him for European Literature. I will have to have him again for a certain class because he is the only one who teaches it....I am so worried. I got a C in his class when I took E. Lit, and I worked hard to get all the readings done .... there are way too many to read. In a nutshell, he should not be a teacher. So many people drop out.

Horrible, horrible, horrible professor. Unbelievably bad. I cannot think of a single redeeming quality. His class was an absolute waste of hard-earned tuition money. I am absolutely floored at his incompetence, and especially his unwillingness to assist students. Words are inadeqaute to describe how much I regret taking his class.

I took both writing one and 2 from him. Once you learn what he expects of you, it's a really easy class. I never went to class and even missed some papers and still ended up with a C. If you go talk to him in his office before a paper's due, you'll at least get a C on it. Boring and likes to talk about sex but if you ignor him, it's not that bad.
