The lectures are quite long and boring, but it's an easy class. I did not read the textbook at all. I judge those who received anything less than a B+ in this class.

This class is quite boring and not enjoyable to me mainly because i don't like the content in this course. After all, it is an easy course to get a moderate grade.

I'll be honest and say that lectures can be boring, and sometimes so can the textbook. However, the material is fairly interesting. If you plan on becoming a teacher, it will give you a different approach on the education system. Only two in class exams and a paper. Great guy, very nice.

Lectures can be a little dull if you aren't interested in the topic, however he explains really well and is passionate about what he does. Only had 2 papers and a final. Very easy marking. His english accent can put you to sleep - I had wonderful naps in that class.

One of the best lecturers I've ever had. His views on education cut through the emotional fog that clouds so many educational debates. He's actually willing to think his way to a judgement or two. How rare and refreshing!

Dr. Barrow was a great prof! The class was a little dull but overall the material was pretty interesting, and he does his best to explain different concepts. We got a rewrite of the first paper, second paper was a little lengthy and final was easy (if you studied). Everyone applauded for him at the end of his last lecture =)

Did intersession with him. Not too difficult as it was a midterm and a final. He has quite the subtle humor and is one of the more "nice" philosophers around. We talked about a lot of different topics and he definitely tries to input his view on them. Otherwise decent class, can get away with not really reading but writing all that he says down.

Robin's class was interesting, but since he wrote the text, essentially just repeating the readings. The focus of the class was philosophy, and not as much education as I had expected. It was a decent class, with fair grades.

Comment:
Ridiculously easy but the lectures are painfully long and boring. It is best to play devil's advocate in tutorial but go along with whatever Robin says for your essay. Attendance for lecture is not important but attending the tutorial is essential. Very little work required. An easy credit if you can think philosophically and write well.

He's not kidding when he demands concise critical thinking. If you don't consider yourself an 8/10+ when it comes to written English, avoid his class! You MUST be able to articulate, and he's looking to fail a couple people per course. Anything he tells you on the first day is to be taken LITERALLY; decide then whether to drop or tough it out.

Neat guy, funny guy, nice guy with intersting lectures. But..he solidifies my idea that philosophy is really common sense. He and probably most philosophers over-complicate everything. The course could have been boiled down and focused into 4 weeks. (Philosophy= a likely career with Black-Top Taxis)

I think he takes the side of teaching subjects and not teaching students. He's too philisophical and not practical enough.
