I don't understand the low ratings. Throughly read the text book a couple of times before the exam & you should have nothing to worry about(not that hard to do since each test is only on about 70 pages of reading). Some of the questions on the tests are tricky but he makes up for it by having A+ at 85%.

Anyone who complains about the tests clearly didn't read the textbook. The tests were 85% textbook. You had to go to class, glance at the notes AND READ THE TEXTBOOK. I thought he was great at explaining, if a bit slow. I only got a b+ cause I didn't do the reasearch thing. I read the textbook and never got lower than 80%. A quality teacher.

Gets a bad rap when in fact he is an easy professor for a first year pysch course. His grading scheme works to your favor (>85% = A+) and all the answers on his tests are obvious. Only downside is bc he is a neuropsychologist, he spends too much time on the nervous system in first year.

He spelled out the word BIAS in class. I think that says alot about his teaching. He doesn't realize that repeating a sentence 10times does not make us remember it when we go home at night. Similarly, wasting 2 lectures on the importance of attendance isn't going to boost attendance. It just makes us think...wow that was a frustrating waste of time!

I am a third year student with a 4.0 average. Dr.Wilson's course is the worst I've taken. He wasted classes lecturing about the importance of attendance, was extremely condescending, repeats the same phrases dozens of times in one lectures, and lectures the students as though they are idiots. Lectures are useless and too focused on neuroscience.

Class is very interesting, but very challenging. Extremely fast-paced. Don't take this class as a GPA-booster or if you are in a full course-load. Must know every detail for the exams.

I am in my 3rd year with a gpa of 4.2. I teach math, calculus and science for a living. He covers material so quickly I can barely keep up (and I use shorthand) and his tests are picky, picky. If his in-class work/discussions were relevant or interesting, it would help. He mocks students whose questions annoy him. Avoid his class.

class was very hard and he expects alot from you! You have to study very hard to get the grade you want...do not take as any sort of GPA booster! If you are very interested in neursocience you will enjoy it. I recommend no taking it if you are an arts student...heavy science background needed. He cares about his students though

he goes way too fast in the notes, all he uses is the over head, he doesn't clarify things very well... i have balnks in my notes because we never get the time to finish the notes, if you have a choice don't choose this prof. if you're a good student but have trouble keeping up, or understanding things, like myself, you'll prob find him hard!

A great prof! I see the negative comments are from INTRO psych students who have very little experience with profs. I had him in my 2nd year (of 4) and he was great. Very helpful out of class, cares about individuals, and willing to go over material. Course is hard but an A is possible and he is fantastic. One of my faves.
