This course is important for you to incorporate research into your practice. This skill will be tested with critiquing articles on both exams. She's tough with the assignment, but the exams aren't bad. Do the readings, and attend class. Only 1 person failed so don't listen to the hype. That said, you can't cram for the course last minute.

Comment:

Rose is incredibly smart and an excellent professor. She grades tough, but you will do just fine on her assignments and tests if you read all her handouts she provides. If you are struggling in her class, simply meet with her and she is happy to explain concepts, as she is very accessible. Put effort into her class and do all the readings!!

Comment:

The course is dense and you will have to work HARD. At times the professor can seem patronizing,condescending and rude. Towards the end, the courses goes from research to hardcore statistics. The assignments are marked very arbitrarily. If you like working hard and learning material you will not use as a nurse on the floor, this course is for you!

LOVE this professor - she is AMAZING. She is very engaging and give SO MANY examples! People give her bad rating because they either don't come to class, or they don't bother reading the stuff she posts on Moodle, and then they fail. Easy to do well in her class if you put in the effort and hardwork.

Hard marker, very specific about what she wants but she gives lots of examples and practice questions. If you follow her outline and do EXACTLY what she asks you should do ok. Her lectures are boring and she can be rude and talk down to students though. It comes off as if thinks she's better than everyone else. But its easy to do ok in the course.

Rose was one of the best profs I had when I was at York. The fact that she has taken such a vocal stand on reddit against the ridiculous conduct of CUPE 3903, makes me even more proud to have had her as a prof.

Definitely a hard marker. Her tests are ridiculously hard and she requires a lot of detail. Her exam was so unfair she had to give each student an extra 4% on their final mark. She was not happy about this and sent an angry email saying that she would not argue marks. Avoid her if you can!

Rose is a hard marker when it comes to her paper but the exam and the midterm were pretty straight forward if you've gone to her class and done her readings. She is very good at clarifying questions you may have and making hard topics make sense if you attend her class. If you don't you may struggle.

Rose Steele is one of the greatest professors at York University's nursing faculty. There are so many people that complain that she's a hard marker etc etc but theyre just not trying and don't care to learn and earn their grades. If you're like that then don't bother taking her courses because Rose actually tries to teach-what profs should be doing

Rose was competent, knowledgeable, helpful, organized and inspirational. She spends a lot of effort helping students by setting up appointments and writing instructions on how she expects work to be done. So if given these clear, unambiguous instructions, and student STILL chooses not to follow, Rose has every right to fail.

I feel that Rose is a very intelligent teacher, and is passionate about her work. But I feel that she thinks little of her students and looks down on them. She expects a lot but doesn't clarify on what she expects. If you can switch out of this course I suggest you do.

She knows her stuff. Honestly, she should probably be running the nursing program. Gives the most feedback on a single paper I've ever seen in my 6 years of university. Tough marker, but makes a very dry topic engaging and interesting. 100% recommend.

So many students are scared to take her classes because the rumor is that she is a tough professor. Rose Steele is in fact a tough but a very fair grader, her lectures are very interesting, and if you ask for help she will explain the material again. Do reading, come to lectures, and you will get a good grade.

I had no idea about the whole trend to switch out of her class or avoid her etc before research. So many people, including my own clinical instructor said leave asap or ull fail. I ended up passing with an A. She is fair, nice, and just do ur readings, its really that easy- i find her an amazing prof and im doing really well in stats now cus of her

i think its hilarious that Rose's rating is this low. she is an amazing profession who does anything she can to see her students succeed. You can't write her off as a bad professor because she has high expectations, you ar win university for god's sake, put in the effort or don't even both paying your tuition cause your wasting your time

Get ready to read in this class. Its very hard, and VERY confusing if you have never taken a research course before. It is a lot of memorization. Her slides are vague and you must read the chapters before class or you will be totally lost. However, her M/C practice questions on moodle are similar to the M/C questions on the midterm and final exam.
