Roz reminds me of a high school teacher: Pretends to care, but doesn't. Some may talk about her kind demeanor, but I have seen her break character on a couple occasions. When you have one on one talks, she'll talk down to you. Furthermore, her assignment criterias are tailored to international students, which is ridiculous. Avoid her at all costs.

Roz is a great prof, and probably the easiest going prof I've had so far. I enjoyed the course because It told me so much about other parts of the world and their long histories. Even though it was lots of slides she is really engaging in how she talks and lectures aren't boring. Unless you don't want to learn the subject presented then she is good

Roz is a really awesome person but her lectures are horribly boring. She just sums up the textbook in powerpoints and reads them, zero insight. Grading is ridiculously easy, wrote an essay which I didn't read over once and got a B+.

Dr Scanell is a very caring lady She cares about her students and is very fair in her markings However needs to slow down during her lectures. alot of information to know throughout the class. you need to study in order to pass this class

Roz is wonderful. Lectures are pretty much straight from her slides (which she posts online) and they follow the textbook closely. Grading criteria and feedback are clear. She does everything to allow you to succeed if you just do the work. Exams were based off review questions - if you know the review Qs you'll pass the exam with flying colours.

Great prof. Do the study guides cover to cover and you will have no problem doing well in the course. Textbook is used more as a supplement to lectures. Group projects and participation count for a large sum of grade.

Good at teaching, and knows what she's talking about, but can sometimes be a bit boring as she sticks to the PPT. She never gives a full 10 mins for break and sometimes skips break altogether so class can feel particularly long. (TIP: She doesn't assign reading, but its very helpful for studying for tests)

Roz is a very nice person. Her notes are mostly point form, which is kind of vague if you do not read the textbook. If you make use of the study questions you would certainly pass her tests. Her lectures are long so eat some snacks while writing down notes to keep you awake. She can give you an extension for an assignment if you *badly* need it.

She gives review questions for every test, if you fill out these questions and study them you will do well on your exams. She is very enthusiastic in her classes and likes discussion. Sweet and easy going for the most part.

Super easy course if you just show up and take notes. The exam prep questions are there for you and are so clear. There are many but if you just study by it, you cannot do badly. It can get bland sometimes cause she sticks to using powerpoint but mostly it's interesting. The term paper is basically just an extended news report and it's easy.

Went in super interested. Found the class to be just kind of boring. Roz stuck to her Powerpoint, which is sometimes outdated. Participation is for marks and feels kind of forced... no good discussion, really. Found Roz to be unapproachable, and a little defensive.

2 midterms each 20%. Final also 20% Class presentation. 10%. Term paper 30%. Overall her class is easy, she gives out slides that are very informative. LEARN everything on the slides and do the questions she gives out and you'll get an A. I got an A- but worked my butt off.

Roz is a very helpful teacher, she explains the material well and encourages questions at the end of lectures. Her weekly quizzes are easy but don't let that throw you off; you should still cover the material required. The short answer exams and lab tests are quite a bit more difficult then their in-class equivalents.

Scarnell is good. She is a bit of a tough marker for exams but if you study, show up for class everyday, review a little and do the little reading there is, the class will be fairly easy. Not too difficult for a university level class. She is a pretty nice and accommodative person. I will be taking her for 1190 next semester.

When I started to see my grades I was shocked. Goodbye 4.20 GPA. Hard marker or hates me, studying for days did not help. Text book heavy. Wondering if racism was the reason for my bad grade. I notice other students give her a high rating though...happy to be free of her and the disappointing class. Asked to teach in other classes and C- in hers!
