Comment:

Attendance is not mandatory at all, and she definitely displays this. Barely on time for class every day and cancelled at least 3 classes during our semester. Crammed in the last 2 units in 2 weeks, and ensured they were worth the most marks on the final exam. Other than that, the class was easy and laid back. Would not take her class again.

Talks about her children and ex multiple times per class instead of going over course material. Has cancelled at least 3 classes so far. the tone she sets for the class (easy, laidback)is inconsistent with how she grades and she doesn't cover all the material she tests on because she lets class out early. nice person, meh instructor.

Great Teacher! Sparked my interest in Linguistics. Take notes. Tests are from notes. Text book is useful but dry. Not everyone will like this course because it is very detailed and need to memorize but it is rewarding.

Sarah is a wonderful teacher. She is extremely enthusiastic about her field, and is keen to spread the joy. She's fair, clear, and easy to talk to. Is likely to increase your interest in linguistics!

Sarah Bowers is a fun, engaging instructor who helped keen my interest in linguistics. She is the only linguist teaching at Langara. She is a casual instructor, and yes, "sits on the desk" and "talks about her kids" but she does so to connect with the learners and provide illustration for concepts in action. She gives practice tests out on the web!

She's so easy to talk to, friendly, so kind! she has young children, what do you expect? she's not so clear on what goes on a test but if you study the booklets she gives you ( no textbook needed for this class) then you're for sure goign to get an A

Down to earth professor. Will engage in discussion and teach to those who want to learn. Does not hold your hand but is eager to help if you need it. Will give you marks for arguing your point in an answer as long as it makes sense. Fair marker. No textbook. Gives printed chapters to read as you go along. Excellent extensive class discussions.

Truthfully attendence not mandatory.She makes class useless, often lets us out early, irritating.. we paid money for this course! Unclear. If you ask for help she favours certain students, and won;t care if you've been waiting for her help. You basically read the text. SHe talks about her kids too much.Goes off topic sits on desk in class.!

Man everyone's ganging up on poor Sarah. She does have favourites, but it's based on performance and interest, it's not arbitrary. And even as a favourite she marks hard, and you can't show up late or mess around. But she knows the subject very well, makes it amusing and engaging. Some of you complained about the chatty nature of class; I loved it!

shes a nice teacher.super hard marker. its her way or no way type of thing. The work that shes gives out is soo hard and makes no sence. if u wanna fail then take her class ull get a f for sure even if u work super hard.
