Summer session with Katz is rough. No empathy here, had to make up a final and it was way harder than what the class had. Some of you are right, he likes to fail people. Don't take this guy if you are trying to pass. You'll have to teach yourself. Had a crisis arise and no help whatsoever.

The previous poster is right about tests (I had a test average way over 100) they are easy and are straight from the test bank. I do have a big problem with his quizzes and homework not being from the text or being stuff he taught in class. I don't doubt his knowledge but his ability to teach is very debatable and yes half your class will fail.

There where 2 things that I found hard about this class. The fist was the quizes, and the clarity of his lecture. However he makes his test based on 120 pts and gets ALL the questions from the test bank. I just study the test bank and my test average is an A. If you follow that there is no excuse for failing. People are just lazy

He is tough is all i have to say, even if you fail all his tests he'll still give you a D but i guess he has to since the whole class failed all his tests. he is a genius, knows his material well however cant teach it well. so dont take him go to newbrunswick, atleast u can choose ur teachers there instead of being stuck with one

He was really really really tough on this class'coz' he is an analytical chemist. Extremely intimidating professor; never clarifies anything. DOnt even bother to do the sample test as the test that he gives is nothing like the sample test. Expects you to read the whole book and figure it out urself; isn't that what he is paid for?? Dont take him

The first day of class he said: "Half of the time I will tell the TRUTH and half I will LIE to you," (WTF is that?. He is ****, UNHELPFUL, WEIRD, and HARD AS HELL. If you wanna have a GOOD experience in CHEM, I recommend ARBUCKLE instead. She is the best CHEMISTRY PROFESSOR I've known, very SMART

Extremely hard class, but as you get used to Katz he's not too bad.You need to go to class to understand what's going on and you pretty much need to study everything because you'll never know exactly what will be on the tests. Really tough at first, but gets easier as you get used to him. Good Luck!

This man is a genious...I wish i had his brain. He isnt easy, but he's not hard either. You must go to class to understand the material, and overall, Katz is a nice guy once you get used to his humor and the way he teaches. As long as he sees that you are trying, he will pass you with a C or better

In Chem 1 I think he wanted to try to get as many ppl to drop the class as possible b/c this was when he was the MOST unhelpful and vague. By Chem 2 he was a little more light-hearted and helpful (emphasis on A LITTLE), but his tests didn't get any easier. He says he doesn't curve but he does.

His tests are pretty hard, and he says he doesnt curve, but he really does- he bumps most people up a grade for their final grade. In order to do well in the class you have to listen to his lectures. He gets a little crazy at times, but overall, he's a nice guy.
