The large, auditorium-like environment discourages students from answering questions. Aside from that, Shands is not helpful whatsoever and is hardly available during her alleged office hours. The material from the tests are pulled out of an imaginary land in her world, definitely NOT the textbook since she asks random, irrelevant questions.

Those that say just study the outline and pass are a bunch of liars. No matter if you memorize her whole notes word for word would u pass her exams. I have no idea where her questions come from but it is not the book. Good luck trying to keep up cause she covers Five ch. Without telling u where she is at. she even dicaurages following along.

she's not even rude like everyone makes her seem. I took her my 1st semester here and was scared because of the stories i had heard. You have to write down a lot of notes, and read the chapters. If you go by the guide in the syllabus then you have no problem. I was so close to getting an A, but ended up with a high B.

scantron class if you know anything about history ust get on wikipedia and look up things on the notes or ask around for the email version floating around among the students, acts like her class is hard it isn't i promise acts strict on attendance she isnt huge curve, reads out of her notes 90 percent of the time... worthless class

She is not very nice and she was a little rude. I have never had to drop out of a class before but her tests have nothing to do with her notes and she doesn't really help the students at all. The lectures are long and you have to keep up with her when taking notes because she doesn't like to repeat herself. BEWARE of this instructor!!
