He does a poor job teaching his VB class. Doesn't make it interesting, plus the assignments are not enjoyable and don't help you develop any real-world skillsâ€"it's just repeating step-by-step what he told you to do in class. All of his content, lectures, assignments, and tests come straight from the textbookâ€"he adds zero value to the class.

His exams are taken right out of the book. Classes are pointless. He quizzes you on things that he doesn't even teach you. Make sure you get a good team for the final project because or maybe just a past years project because he doesn't prepare you at all. He also assumes that all weekly assignments take 30 min when they actually take days of anger

Rau puts zero effort into is teaching and it shows. PowerPoints are straight from the textbook publisher, tests are from the textbook question-banks. His lectures are unbelievably boring and dry. He's also extremely inflexible: on the homework assignments: you better answer them his way or it's all wrong. Avoid Rau's classes if at all possible.

I dont know why he is still at Marquette where we pride ourselves with the professors we have. He does not care for the students at all as it almost seems he wants them to fail. Avoid if you can.

Worst professor at marquette. Class is designed to kill your grade. Extremely unhelpful in and outside of class. Totally aloof to students' needs and how to provide adequate help. Unfortunately he teaches two required courses, so you will have him if you are an IT major. To summarize, the fact he is still with the university is a joke.

Decent teacher. Everything in the class is based off the book, he uses the publishers tests which are easy. He takes attendance seriously, he removes points from final grade for tardies.3 tests, 1 group project, 1 weekly in class flowchart. Not much outside work besides a weekly team 5 point application exercise. No other options but Rau for 2051

Worst professor at MU COBA! Finishes half of material then moves to next topic. Doesnt review assignments in class. If you're IT you have to suffer through him. Exams follow powerpoints exactly, class irrelevant. Semester project will screw your grade. If you want an A go see him twice a week for an extra hour outside of class. Has tenure, goodluck

I hated him! He held a grudge against me the entire semester for reasons unknown to me. I earned a B in every test but when it came to the project he screwed me and my team. He didn't even show up to our presentation. Stay away!

Not a bad guy, boring sometimes but supplied you with all the info you needed for tests. For the homework and group projects, however, he was a little vague and you will need to go in to get extra help/ask questions sometimes. Otherwise homework not too bad, you can somtimes finish in class. And the group project was fine.
