In-campus one of the most passionate teachers I've known. Knows everything about the subject and makes classes very interesting and fun. If you take him, don't do it online.

I took his online class for a while now, but somehow it doesn't seem like he's concerned or interested in helping students with improving. When it comes down to looking at your grades, it certainly isn't what you want to expect from his class. Don't let the green dot fool you. Doesn't give feedback and also doesn't tell us where to improve.

Steve is a great guy, with a lot of great stories and immense knowledge about the stuff he teaches. He has cultivated a massive animation collection and shows as much awesome material as he can every week. If you're into animation, this is a goldmine of a class. All you have to do is show up and pay attention every week to get an A. Don't miss!

No assignments in this class. Nothing requires you to use your textbook until the Final Exam. All quizzes and the mid-term exam are based only on the module content. Besides test scores, to get an A, all you really need to do is participate in the weekly discussions. 2-3 posts per week is enough. There are over 500 videos you need to watch, though.

This must be an empty paycheck for some people. I almost felt like there was no teacher. If you have to take this class, take it with someone who knows, but doesn't feel so insecure. That insecurity was an issue I noticed.

This class would benefit from a person with less self aggrandizement. Doesn't teach or offer helpful advice. Is rude and not at all interested in seeing his students get this. Waste of time and money. Note to self: teaching one's self from books and videos means a better education. Save money instead.

Since I had very limited exposure to 2D animation prior to the class I did learn some - his critiques of our work was generally good although sometimes would get stuck on one thing for way too long. Utilizing your classtime for getting homework done for the class makes it much more tolerable. Too lienant with some things though.

I had him for History for Animation and I took it online. It was a really easy class and most of the time you're watching films. I would say if you enjoy watching animation then this class is perfect for you.

There is absolutely no structure to this class what so ever, he has no standards at all for when assignments are due to turn in from day to day. We don't learn anything from the class, its just a waisted filler class. I think he likes to be entertained in class than to be teaching. He doesn't ever remember anything, ALL WE DO IS WATCH DISNEY FILMS, I can do that at home, I'm taking absolutely nothing from this class, everything I've learned and most other students is from the book required for the class.

I really liked Steve. He has a lot to offer. He gives you really great feedback and shows you exactly how to fix your troubled areas. Very knowledgeable in both animation and Maya as it relates to animation. I think people don't like his method because he is very blunt and tells it like it is. That is how a teacher should be.

I can see how a lot of people here are rough on him. He's not the best TEACHER in the world however he DOES know what he's talking about. Although other people may have had a hard time getting him to clarify things, I have never had a problem with that or with inputting my opinion.

Hey, if you had to watch the same damned cartoons everyday you'd be a little irritable! But seriously, take his classes online and go at your own pace with the cartoon stuff. He doesn't have any tollerance for half-baked ideas or cliches so be warned. His input during my animation class was a little frustrating though.

BEWARE! Sure this guy likes animation, he's an animation enthusiast, can talk about animation, used to actually be an animator at some point. BUT... he is NOT... repeat, NOT a good teacher of animation. People defend him because they don't know any better, it's sad. They will one day hit a point and realize they learned nothing from him. Sucks.

I loved Steve and still talk to him whenever I get the chance. The only people who think he's boring simply don't want to be in school in the first place, or get bored watching cartoons... the kind of people who don't belong in art school. Steve is nice, helpfull, and genuine.

He is a total animation GEEK. Thing is he has no personality and it shows in the way he teaches. There should be an emotional attachment to what you teach, because it will come across in how you teach. I also had him for Storyboarding and I dropped after the first class.
