Comment:

I took Intro to Stats with Dr. Simmons during the summer session, so it was a fast moving class. It wasn't the easiest class, but she is a wonderful professor who is concerned with her students. She gets excited when students ask questions and is readily available to help outside of class as well. Overall great professor. Totally recommend!

Comment:

Dr.Simmons is great. She is very enthusiastic about statistics and loves questions. She always clarifies anything that is confusing. Homework can be tough sometimes. Tests are not bad either, as long as you study. She let us use a notecard for formulas, making test a little bit easier. Very clear and great Stats professor!

Applied Probability (MAT/STT 465/565) isn't the easiest class in the world, but Dr. Simmons was incredibly helpful. The homework was very easy, but some people struggled with the tests. Almost everyone bombed the first one, so she let us take it again for a better grade AND she gave us bonus points. She's also the queen of partial credit.

Had Dr. Simmons for STT315, which by all rights is a very difficult class and she doesn't make it any easier. That being said she is an amazing teacher that really cares about all of her students. It is very refreshing to have a teacher like her that genuinely cares about her student's success inside and outside of the classroom. Take her class.

Dr. Simmons is quite possibly one of the best professors at UNCW. She's great at teaching, but where she really shines is outside of the classroom. If she ever mentions anything about conferences, internships, experts panels, scholarships, etc then DO WHAT SHE SAYS. Simmons can give you experience, and a lot of the time experience > grades.

Excellent professor who cares about her students & whether they're learning. Tests can be challenging but if you do the homework, you'll do fine. She always answers questions thoroughly without being condescending & is always upbeat & personable. You will learn a great deal in this class - can be an easy A if you study. Highly recommended!

Nice lady! At first the class seems pretty painless, but the material becomes bewildering midway through the semester. At times, Dr. Simmons appears to teach quicker as the material becomes harder. However, she is ALWAYS willing to spend extra time with you during her office hours. I would suggest that only math/stat students enroll for this class.

As a person Dr. Simmons is wonderful. However, her class is somewhat problematic. She has a grad student grade all the homework which can take up to two weeks to get back. Unfortunately, feedback from the homework is either wrong or right (without corrections). Although she asks if there are any questions concerning the homework in the beginnin

Very nice lady, but hard to follow at times. Note: The vast amounts of homework that is assigned does not correspond to the test at all. Just study your notes and memorize every in class example. Also she does a lot of concept questions(fill in the black/short answer) on her exams that are worth like 5-10 points each.

Great Stat teacher the best at uncw... get her if you can you wont be disappointed... she uses + and - in her grading... but the main thing is DO THE HWK she gives alot of it but if you do the HWK you are guaranteed an A or B...

I personally think the way she teaches is really great. When we had a sub one day I had NO clue what was going on, but when she came back she made it really clear. Lots of HW, but it's straightforward and she lets you drop your 3 lowest HWs and quizzes. She's the best of the Stat teachers that I've heard of.

She is the worst teacher I have ever had at UNCW. She talk to you like you are 4 years old and laughs this stupid high pitched laugh every 5 mins. Class material is easy but she does not know what she is talking about so messes it all up- uses wrong formulas until a student points it out. Lies about what is given on quizzes- values, very bad!

Simmons is a really sweet woman and truly wants her students to learn. She is very helpful and will stop what she is doing to help you understand. The class really isnt that hard if you go to class and study a little. I definitely reccomend her to anyone that has to take this class.

Does a good job of preparing you for the tests. Get ready to do loads of homework though. Weekly homework quizzes are easy; if you do the work. Tests are straightfoward and not too hard if you study at all. This is one of those classes that can be difficult if you blow it off. If you study some there is no reason you can't get at least a C or B.

I hate math, but im actually doing really well in this class. She really knows how to teach the material and does a great job of explaining it. She is eager to help us with any thing we need and really tries to make statistics fun(if that can be done)

even if youre terrible at math you can do ok in dr. simmons class. she does give a lot of homework, but the quizzes are straight from hw and shes always willing to help you out. if you need to take stats, do it with dr. simmons

She is a GREAT teacher! I am absolutely horrible at math and i made an A in this class. Her homework load is a little large but she gives great notes and is willing to help anyway she can - even during your exams. Her quizzes are super easy and come straight from the homework. I definitely recommend her - you will do well if you try at all.
