She's an awful online prof. Gives terrible feedback on essays and marks very harshly. She'll tell you you did well and still give you a bad mark. Doesn't make any sense. Take this course with anyone else if possible.

I took this online during the summer, and although it was a ton of work, I'm very glad I did. As long as you keep up with the readings and put effort into the class, you will be fine. Tannis was always excellent at getting back to my emails & was very helpful. Only thing that would be appreciated is more feedback on essays. Tannis is a great prof.

I think I would have taken away more from Criminology if I would have taken it in-class. The quizzes are tricky, so make sure to read and pretty much memorize the chapters they cover. The essays and discussion posts are fairly easy. For the final, get the online companion to the textbook to access the quizzes, they help a lot.

Dr Peikoff is a very intelligent professor with lots of great notes. Lots of reading and writing in her classes but her extra articles and video clips are very interesting and tie into the essay questions. She is very understanding with students and ready to help in any way. Plus you can get bonus marks for going over and above expectations.

If you need to take a third year crim and you have the option to do it with someone else, do so. I took her class online, the class itself was interesting but she was not. She does not respond to emails and gives mean feedback on assignments. Came to the point where I had to ask other crim profs for help. Her notes are also all taken from sites...

Awful prof. Essays are marked ridiculously and leaves rude comments on them. Quizzes are 30 MCs in 25 mins and everyone does bad because they don't have enough time to finish or to really think about the answer. Take it with anyone else but her.

You can tell she would be really nice outside of class as a person, but as a professor she was terrible. Tests were marked hard, and sometimes I felt like she just pulled grades out of nowhere! I've had her twice for two different classes, and I should've trusted my gut after the first time. Courseinteresting but profhorrible.

Ms. Peikoff is one of the best Profs I've ever had ! She expects hard work but she also teaches you everything you need to know for the tests; very knowledgeable, friendly and funny ! No multiple choice, just 2 short essays per exam (lots of hints provided in advance). Also 15% for discussion and 10% book review, great way to boost your grade.

She was a decent prof. No complaints. I took the course DE and very rarely had to speak to her. Essays marked a little too overzealously for grammar so be careful (and speak to her if you find that style-related "mistakes" were marked as grammar mistakes). Find the online companion to the text and practice the quizzes for the final!

She knows a lot and you'll definitely learn a lot in her class. However, I had her for criminal careers online and I thought she was very unclear about what she wanted out of the papers. But I'm still glad I took it.

Excellent! Very good course and teaching. For the level of effort you put in, your mark will reflect it. Work hard, go to class, listen to hints and pointers for tests/assignments and you will do great. Not easy in that you can do nothing and get an A. easy in the sense that if you put in the work you will succeed. Nothing but good things to say

Very nice prof.. but, talks to class like they're kids. Not at all helpful when asking questions via email or in person. Reads off powerpoint but seems like she really doesn't know what she's talking about. Tests are pretty fair but doesnt give any feedback or have any reasoning for grades given. Would not take a class with her again.

Great prof. 25% from group work which if written well is extremely helpful to your grade. Tests are fair. First one is more theory based so it is rather boring. She covers a wide range of topics in crime and it was a rather interesting class. Class average is high.

Awesome prof, easy if you study your notes and read the textbook.(key terms and key people mostly). If you do enough class participations, you can easily get high-90's, (which is what i did) and end up with 98% in course. Study hard and you will be rewarded. good gpa booster interesting subject

SOC 3710 was designed by her. It's the most interesting class I've ever taken in 3 years. You get to read about organized crime, white collar crime , and street crime. If you want a good grade; take this course online. Super fun and rather easy.Just a lot of writing but no tests or final!Tannis is always willing to help you out. Highly recommended!
