If you we're thinking of taking GEHH, choose another professor. Lectures are terribly boring, you practically need to translate his broken grammar assignment instructions (seeing how they are sure as hell not written in english), and his quiz's, although being online and multiple choice, are impossible. NOT an easy A, at least not with this profes.

Professor Mcguires lectures are interesting, however he justs reads off powerpoint slides most the time (with a little extra humor). Note taking is not very useful, but he emphasizes that students do assigned readings before class to understand the material. Quizzes are open note. Recitations not always exciting, but helps apply material learned.

The guy can teach, but he's a bad teacher. What I mean is... If you go to class and listen to his lectures (and stories), they're interesting and informative. But as far as grading goes... good luck. VERY picky grader. Insane expectations. Honestly wouldn't recommend. It might not sound like it through this post, but the cons outweigh the pros.

Comment:

Professor McGuire was an extremely interesting lecturer; he has many funny anecdotes. The material was very broad in scope but presented well. Only thing that sucked was how early the lectures were (840am). I would highly recommend to take this professor.

Comment:

He was not always clear with assignments, did not like when we used quotes in any assignments, and assigned a lot of work/readings through recitation. Otherwise he's a great guy. His lectures were pretty interesting and he was very knowledgable.Overall, I recommend the course all test are open notes and he gives people lots of chances for makeups.

Like the previous comments stated, group work days are a mystery. Don't know where you stand in the class until finals week, so you don't know whether to drop the class or not. The guy never responds to emails. And he's highly against plagiarism, and yet some of his lecture slides are plagiarized off of magazine articles.... =/ Wouldn't recommend.

Very nit picky grader and does not help in office hours. I emailed with questions and got very delayed responses with only 2 sentences maximum. Would not recommend this class to anyone who would like to keep their GPA up.

Keep up with the work and follow his instructions to the letter and you're pretty much guaranteed an A. Super straightforward most of the time. No in-class exams or quizzes, just online quizzes, a paper, group work, and a take home final. Work somewhat hard in the class, and if you have an A before the final, you don't even have to take it!

Keep up with the work and an A is not difficult. He wants you to do well, and you can tell by how much he encourages learning. No textbook, just research and news articles. Speak up in class, sit toward the front for LoR. He's a really nice dude.

Dr Mguire is a good teacher, he is very passionate about helping his students. His take home exams are hard, but they are do-able. His motto is basically "Work hard and get a good grade". I got an A by working hard. Might seem grumpy but is a kind person underneath

He is an excellent professor. He goes a little fast, but if you ask questions, he will go slower. The class is based on actually learning material, rather than memorizing for exams. There are no traditional exams. Instead, there are in class quizzes, jigsaws, and one huge take home exam. The class is hard work, but if you try hard you can get an A.

The class is not really that difficult. However, it has some things wrong with it. Since McGuire does not give hourly exams or quizes, students do not have much motivation to really learn the material. McGuire is extremely unhelpful and very bad socially.

Get on his good side the moment u enter his class by speaking up and participating. Once he knows your name and sees u making an effort, hes a pretty cool guy. He doesn't like a slacker and may go out of his way to push a slacker further down. Attending class is an absolute for this class and u won't be able to survive otherwise!
