Tom is the nicest man ever, but I found his lectures to be very boring and hard to comprehend. His lectures are basically telling stories about his own personal experiences and he often gets off topic. Half the time I didn't really know what to write down in my notes. Fortunately, he will let you know half the questions on the midterm and final.

I have now taken 3 courses with Tom. He is an amazing prof. He has so many stories and such an amazing wealth of knowledge it is staggering. He does tend to ramble and just change his lectures every day but in fairness he does give the vast majority of the midterm/final questions beforehand so you can pretty easily get a good mark!

He just rambles during lecture. But don't worry about taking notes because he tells you everything that's on the midterm or final a few days before them. DO THE WEBCT practise multiple choice questions. His tests have the exact same questions EXACT ONES!!!!!

A great teacher. I really enjoyed the way he taught evolution, it was very interactive and fun. I also really enjoyed how the whole Biology staff would roast the graduating Bio Class, they took the time to know us. Keep up the good work Tom.

Crazy hard midterms that everyone failed, but he's fair, he weighted the final heavier and the final was not so bad. His lectures are fun, he's super nice, and make sure he sings his song about Amphioxus at the end of the semester!!!
