Prof Hickman is amazing. He's a very entertaining and sensitive professor, and his grading is clear. The lectures/discussions in class were truly fascinating and engaging. The class has lots of reading, but it's really interesting. Just do the reading and pay attention when he discusses key points and you'll do great.

Professor Hickman is, BY FAR, my favorite professor. He is hilarious, our class discussions are always incredible. He guides us, as a class, to answers for our own questions. His semester organization is also the best I've ever seen Now, this doesn't mean it's an EASY class. There's still reading to do and a paper or two to write, but it's worth it

Prof Hickman is a great teacher. His lectures are great and he makes time for students outside of class. He genuinely cares about whether his students are doing well and learning. Students are also very involved in the lectures. I would definitely recommend him to anyone.

He is an amazing teacher who is hilarious, kind, genuinely interested in his students, and passionate about what he teaches. There is lots of reading because it is a literature class, but the discussions are fantastic, he will work with you on the two small papers you write, and tests are straight forward.

Honestly, he might be the best professor I've ever had. He is incredibly funny, spiritually sensitive, and deeply passionate about the material. The only reason I put that you should be prepared to read is because it's an English class for heaven's sake. It's all worth it. Do it.

There is a lot of reading, but even when you don't like it initially, Dr. Hickman can make you like it in the lecture. He's a funny, interesting and intelligent professor. He has in class quizzes that are easy (half the time, if you showed up he gives you the points anyway). Do the reading and show up to class, and you'll have it made.

Be on time. Come to class. You have to read a lot, so if you aren't willing to do so, I wouldn't take this class. The professor is HILARIOUS, and I LOVED what we learned! I really recommend this class. Tests are easy, and they TA's fairly lenient on grading.

Hickman really gets college students. He doesn't give worthless homework, but helps you not procrastinate. The books we read in American lit 1960-present were really great and inspiring which is hard for post-modern. Because of him, my papers were my best work. good balance between lecture and discussion. you won't regret it.

I was taking Stephen Walker for Brit Lit while I was taking Prof. Hickman for American. This guy beats the pants off of Walker, who is quite the professorial celebrity. Hickman is hilarious and kind. He really had me rolling sometimes. Seriously. Great lecturer. Do the reading, show up and pay attention, get an A. He's one of the best.

He is a fantastic teacher! He is truly interested in the students and how well they are doing in the class. He knew most of our names the second class period and he knew all of them by the second week. I never liked to participate in class discussions before, but he made me feel as if what I had to say added to it. I would reccommend him to anyone.

I'm a multiple Hickman taking student. People aren't kidding when they say that he is one of the best. He remembers what it was like to be a student and he tries to create his classes accordingly. Very interesting and funny. Very organized and fair. Will do everything he can to ensure you succeed.

I took 293 and the Post Modern class from him. One of my fav teachers. He is very helpful and interested in his students. There are random "Rushwrites" so you need to go to class-- but you'll want to! Really fun lectures and he gives a great study guide for the tests. Take him if you are lucky enough to get into his class!! (esp. Post Modern!)

Trent was way cool. After having classes from arrogant/overworked/boring english teachers, he was a youthful breath of fresh air. He's not annoyingly conservative, so discussions could go more in depth. He is super fair and easy to talk to. He knew my name even though i had only talked to him once in a class of 90 people!

I had Dr. Hickman for American lit and Latin American lit, and I loved both classes, and I looked forward to class every day. You do need to make sure and go to class, but it is very worthwhile. He is funny, and he sincerely cares about the students. I highly recommend taking any class from him.
