She is an insightful and direct teacher. She's clear on expectations/assignments, can have unique prompts for papers, and gives good feedback. She expects you to work hard/do the readings, and participation is important. Definitely worth taking her classes if you actually want to learn and engage. If you're looking for an easy A, don't bother.

A tough class. WAY to much reading. 8 books to read over the course of this class. They weren't small books either. Lots of papers assigned to write. Will mark you down tremendously if you don't know how to write in Chicago format and she won't help you. Set on her opinions and talks about them in class. Puts down a lot things and close minded.

Vicki Eaklor is one of the most perceptive teachers out there. In my classes with her, she was remarkably tolerant of students' viewpoints, and she's funny as hell. Highly reccommended.
