Comment:

Definitely knows his material. Grading was fair but sometimes tough. Material is complex but foundational for microwave, RF, communications, antenna design and optical communications. Would say he is a good choice compared to others. Midterms/final/HW.

Comment:

Pham is not the best teacher I had, but he did a pretty good job overall. Tests were reasonable, homework was a bit long (and homework grading a bit inconsistent). Had straightforward if not revolutionary lectures and knew what he was talking about. Sometimes hard to wrap your head around the 3D concepts here but its doable.

Exams are reasonable. Very similar to homework. Homework problems are also not hard. He gives around 6-8 problems per week. Lectures are not too bad. Take notes because some examples can also be on the midterms. Study the problems you missed on the midterms. They might show up again. Overall, great class.

Prof. Pham made this course enjoyable and easy to understand. His exams mirrored homework and past exams, so all you really need to do is practice problems. Averages and his curves are fair, and I highly recommend him for any EM course.

The easiest EE class I've ever taken. Exams are really easy and grading is generous. He gave out tons of A's this quarter. I felt like I didn't learn much though; exams were entirely computational (just like in math 21ABC). He wasn't very helpful in OH though.

Comment:

Knows his stuff but is condescending in person. Doesn't appreciate answering questions because he feels the class is already easy enough, although the averages don't reflect it. His lectures are pretty dry. Overall, not a bad professor, but unpleasant to ask questions from- others in my class have had similar experiences.

Don't take this guy's class. He isn't a good teacher at all. Easy grader but you won't learn much from him. I went to his office once the entire quarter, he was very impatient. I hear this is very common with other students.

Towards the end, he just runs through everything. Every hard to follow in class. Grading very lenient as along as you started off with the right equation, you probably have 95% of the point. Doesn't matter if your final answer is wrong.

Ok, Ok, I would like to temper my comments about Pham. I don't think he is out to do students in. His tests are difficult. Yet, he does grade the tests way leniently. He times his tests. He isn't one of the best professors to take if you want to feel like the class is easy. I don't want to dog him just because he is difficult (not bad)

Dude, this was probably one of the easiest EEC classes that i've ever taken. Professor was very generous with the midterms, extremely straight foward. The final was even more generous, gave us two problems from the midterm. Learned a lot, overall, a great professor.
