Comment:

Coombs is very fair. When the class didnt do well on an exam he lowered the max points to improve everyones grade and made the next test easier. All the tests are are 50 multiple choice questions which he gives you in the study guide. He makes class interesting and he is pretty funny.

Prof. Coombs is biased and irrational. I missed one lab due to being in the hospital, he refused to allow a make up, intentionally failed me for the course (saying "well someone has to fail") and put my college career in jeopardy. I am now a teacher and can attest to his poor behavior as a professor.

Professor Coombs is one of the smartest professors I've ever had. His lectures are fascinating and is always more than willing to help you if you dont understand something. However, this class is incredibly difficult so don't take it if you dont have to. Bottom line, Prof. Coombs is awesome but his class is not.

Had him only for my bio lab, but he was a great guy. He was always willing to go over questions, even if it meant spelling out the answers. Tests are hard, but if you actually know the stuff and study you will be fine. Would definitely recommend!

Rediculous class. Worked hard enough for an A but recieved a B-. This class was not a major requirement and I still studied as if it was. My class average was a 72, that means half the class failed. AVOID THIS PROFFESSOR

awesome professor! i took him again this semester for bio too. if you do the study guides. you're all set for exams. if you pay attention during lab, you have nothing to worry about for the exams. GREAT PROFESSOR!!!!!!!

This was a hard class because there was so much to memorize but if you put in the effort he will reward you for it. He doesn't want people to come to office hours with questions he would prefer that it is done on Manhattan. I have him for Biological Evolution right now which is a better class to take with him. AWESOME GUY!!!!!

There is no way in hell this class should be an introductory class. When and if i do pass this class cause i can only imagine what his lab exams are like i should be able to have a certificate of mastery in the study of rocks. Good teacher just needs to calm down a little bit on how tough he makes the class.

no good....way too hard for a intro class especially when hardly anyone in the class cares about rocks.....i wrote an answer on an exam word for word as it appeared in the text and he wouldn't give me credit for it since it wasn't how he explained it in lecture.....not a fair professor....wants students to do poorly

Ya Coombs may be funny, but that doesn't make him a great teacher. His tests were beyond difficult. He would be an excellent teacher for a more advanced Geology class, but he doesn't realize this is an intro class and most of the class is not even majoring in science!
