Hanclosky's not a bad guy, but he's definitely not the best teacher. He lectures off the top of his head but his exams are straight from the book. If he didn't take attendance I'd say you're better off buying the book and ditching the class. But he does take attendance, so go. The projects are easy and he lets you redo them until you get an A.

He was confusing! I would walk in knowing what something was but wen I walked out, I wasnt sure if I knew or not. Half of the things on his exams were things he hadnt talked about but he had crazy curves on all his exams.

Comment:

Hanclosky is an amazing teacher! Always available and willing to help if you need help. Always makes lectures fun, interesting, and easy to understand. If you don't understand something just tell him and he will break it down for you. Just come to class, pay attention to the lectures, ask questions, and do the work and you will do fine!

Hanclosky is extremely personable and wants his students to succeed. He is always available for questions about projects. This class is a requirement for Media Arts majors. The book can be hard to obtain for a reasonable price. I have placed mine on Amazon for $35. It's $70 from USC bookstore. Search "Principles of Media Development"

I'm very indifferent about Hanclosky. His exams were much harder than the lectures or information led it to be. He is very passionate about media and kind of brags about things. He is yankee. very in your face. He is nice, just don't sit in the front row for he gets like two inches away from you.

He's an okay teacher, but as a Graphic Design major I found that his information wasn't very useful. If you're thinking about going into photography or film, his class is perfect because he really knows his stuff. However, if you have the choice I would take MART 210 in place of it; it's a much better class.

Not a bad professor at all. He likes to rant and make everything seem more complicated than it really is. As far as the work is concerned, its not bad at all. Take good notes, pay attention, and you should have a B or better. Don't forget to ask about JPEGs if you need a 5 minute break.

This guy knows his stuff. Rants and yells a bit (don't get him started on JPEGs). Book is still in shrink wrap, and I'm doing well. Doesn't seem to gear-brag as much as other comments might make you think. I'd recommend him.

Sounds like Mr. Dink from Doug- talks alot about camera technolgy - but if you think HE'S bad, you need to get out of the MART program! It gets more complicated from here. The assignments are very simple and can be done easily if you start a bit early - they generally involve taking a single photo with multiple exposures. Took less than 1 hr for me
