One of my best experiences of my college education was taking Old Testament in professor Williams' class. His teaching style is an inspiration. However, the class will be difficult, especially the tests. Make sure you study for those! (He provides study 'cheat-sheets' which are extremely helpful, but it's a lot to memorize.)

I took this class in 1978. One of the best educational experiences in my extensive academic career! I read these reviews about how difficult Dr Williams tests are. Get over it!!! Just cherish the opportunity to absorb wisdom from a legend and a wonderful human being!!!!

For me, Wilbur was actually easy. I think that's because I am good at seeing patterns and memorization, plus I have a mild background of OT knowledge. Make sure you have a basic knowledge of the OT and you'll do fine. There's almost no homework. But if you're bad at memorization, don't mess with him. His tests are difficult. And don't get the book.

I don't regret taking this class for the fact that Wilbur is so sweet yet wise at the same time. However, it was really hard to know what the test would be over and he did not offer a lot of practical help. I would recommend this class to anyone that already knows a lot of Old Testament details.

Williams is a fantastic Prof! He gives great guides for each unit, and if you study that and take notes over his power points--you will do well in the class. He really knows his stuff and I highly recommend taking his class!

Do not be fooled. While Wilbur is a great man and a very friendly guy, his class is overrated. Much of his reputation is not based on the way he currently teaches, but on what others have heard. His class mainly consists of difficult and obscure trivia that will never come in handy again for most majors. Very sweet man though

He's a nice old guy, but I feel like his class was worthless. All we did was memorize obscure trivia for difficult multiple choice exams. I took this class with Williams because he is such an IWU legend, but I wish I had taken it with someone else -- I would have liked to have really gone deeper into studying the OT.

No doubt a very difficult prof. 80% of the grade is based off of hard exams. I managed to get an "A" in this class but studied about 3 times more for this class than other gen eds. BUT, he is an amazing professor with incredible stories and wisdom. He loves to teach! Take Wilbur for the experience, but know that the class is very difficult.

Willbur is a total sweetheart, but he is insanely hard. While you'll love his personality, you won't love your grades in the class. You work like crazy, study more for this class than any, and yet still don't do well. Most of his class didn't make higher than a "C." A lot of his class is also his own personal beliefs and not actually in the Bible.

Slightly overrated. Spends more time on the Kings than on the rest of the Old Testament. Audit his class and listen to his lectures, but take OT with someone else. The teaching style is just not as good as the work needed to study for his tests.
