Outstanding professor and "guide" to Japanese society. Highly knowledgeable in Japanese studies -- law, religion, history, sociology, politics, etc. I was able to "see" more during my time in Japan as a result of Dr. Crawley opening my eyes. He shared his contacts with professionals and community members with students -- thank you.

Prof. Crawley is a great teacher but is difficult. His quizzes and exams are very specific so make sure to read all of the outside readings. His lectures are good so just make sure to pay attention in class. Also, you work in groups throughout the whole semester so if you don't like to depend on someone else for you grade, then I wouldn't recommend

He really knows his stuff. His online quizes are a pain, and for some of them the reading didn't help at all, i would suggest doing the first few readings and if you feel like they aren't helping, then dont bother. His exams are really detailed so when he gives a review sheet make sure to study everything on it. Take him!!!

This may be one of the most badass profs i've ever had. His class requirements are extremely high, but if you do them, you will learn way more than the narrow scope of this class. w00t!

You'll learn a tremendous amount. He probably spends his evenings protecting the community with his bare fists, and intellectual reasoning. Just imagine someone like say...Chuck Norris. Don't worry, he won't roundhouse kick you, though. TAKE HIM!

Very good prof, not at all dry or boring. If you can, take 400 during the summer b/c it is much easier. A good amount of reading and a few short papers along with final research paper. Exams are all essay, but are easy as long as you know the study guide. He's not that bad to look at either.

Interesting class...he was able to give a lot of examples because of his experience. He has a good sense of humor and knows what he's talking about. sometimes the lectures were a little dry, and he had a bit of an attitude sometimes, but he was a cool prof.

He is a bold teacher. A little intimidating at first, but once you get use to him, he is a fun teacher. But a fun teacher that still makes you work hard, but in a good way.
